Hi all,
I would like to know if anyone has migrated the monthly dump injection
process from wikipedia (MWDumper) and a wikipedia mirror (mediawiki
software) to AWS and if so, what was the approach you had followed for it.
Thanks in advance,
Diana
Hello,
I'm Côme (Skylsmoi) and I am working with Kelson (from Kiwix) on the
mwoffliner.
I am trying to mirror locally every js and css resources from original
articles for an offline use.
I have been looking for every resources I could find and currently I manage
to get :
- the ones from api.php?action=parse&prop=modules|jsconfigvars
- the list in the <script> tag from article's <head> listed by
mw.loader.load([...])
- I added startup.js, jquery.js and mediawiki.j
But I have realised that some resources are doing a mw.loader.using() which
download more resources (that might also download even more resources) and
even execute some js code in .using() callbacks.
I can't parse every resources looking for mw.loader.using to manually get
the file because some are dynamic (mw.loader.using(module_list); //
module_list is assigned before in the code)
The callbacks also are a problem for parsing the files because in offline,
the files would already be linked to the page, not downloaded so the
callback would not trigger
I'm looking for any help.
The dream solution would an api endpoint that, giving one wikipedia page,
list every js and css modules with, for every js modules, it's dependencies
and the js to execute once downloaded.
Thanks in advance
This affects your wiki if you are using both Flow and Nuke.
We recently fixed https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T162621 , an issue
with Flow's Nuke integration.
This has now been merged to master as well as the two supported Flow
release branches (1.27 and 1.28):
master - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/348407/ (merged)
1.27 - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/348408/1
1.28 - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/348409/1
This has already been deployed to WMF production.
There is an unrelated Jenkins issue with 1.27 and 1.28. Until those are
merged, you can download the patches using Download->Checkout in the
top-right of Gerrit. Sorry for the inconvenience.

That sounds like it may be a server configuration issue. What web server are you using? For Apache, you should have a single redirect in there that routes port 80 to port 443. If your server is listening to BOTH ports, you might see this sort of flip-flop behaviour.
Have you changed things in LocalSettings.php? If not, and your server is configured properly for HTTPS, then it should not flip to plain HTTP.

Has anyone been able to get the 'statcounter' extension to work with
mediawiki and foreground please? I have it installed and the only thing
that it seems to do is to add 'Site statistics' into the sidebar. There
are no calls to its home site, nothing! I've set it up as per the
extensions homepage at
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:StatCounter.com_Integration but
it just isn't working for me.
I do have these other extensions installed though -
--8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8---
wfLoadExtension( 'TextExtracts' );
wfLoadExtension( 'PageImages' );
wfLoadExtension( 'Popups' );
wfLoadExtension( 'CiteThisPage' );
wfLoadExtension( 'Gadgets' );
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---
Thanks
Sharon.

MediaWiki supports MySQL 5.0.3 (which was released back in 2005-03-23), and this is somewhat of a blocker to MediaWiki development, and is also meaning we're missing out on taking for granted that various features will be there for use. Or having to do conditional support, with more potential drawbacks.
I started a discussion [1] as to bumping the MySQL version, and it seems that selecting the 5.5 branch of MySQL (specifically, 5.5.8, released 2010-12-03 [2]) is gathering support.
This should hopefully be less of a controversial "bump" than the PHP 5.5 bump was, as hosting providers seem to keep more up to date with MySQL versions. From data gathered from wikiapiary, 90% of wikis running PHP 5.5 (ie new enough to run the latest and greatest MediaWiki release) are running MySQL 5.5 or newer.
This email serves as the initial announcement of taking this forward, and feedback is requested on [1] before this is taken forward to an RfC meeting in the near future

Hi there,
Anyone get that error for the extension SimpleSecurity 5.2 running on MediaWiki 1.28.1
Warning: Declaration of LoadBalancerSimpleSecurity::reallyOpenConnection($server, $dbNameOverride = false) should be compatible with LoadBalancer::reallyOpenConnection(array $server, $dbNameOverride = false) in /var/www/mediawiki.new/extensions/SimpleSecurity/SimpleSecurity_body.php on line 430
Fatal error: Cannot declare class LBFactorySimpleSecurity, because the name is already in use in /var/www/mediawiki.new/extensions/SimpleSecurity/SimpleSecurity_body.php on line 463
For now, our wiki is running perfectly on Debian 7 (Wheezy) with PHP 5.4
What we try to do is transfer our MediaWiki to a new server running Debian 8 (Jessie) with PHP 5.6
Step we done is :
- Untar the new code 1.28.1 to Jessie server
- Move the LocalSettings.php
- Move the upload folder
- Change setting for MySQL BD in the LocalSettings.php
And we get the error above.
Thank's in advance for you help.

Tried a fresh install of MW 1.28. PDF Handler doesn’t process any
thumbnails on the file page.
MediaWiki <https://www.mediawiki.org/> 1.28.0
PHP <https://php.net/> 5.6.30 (apache2handler)
MySQL <https://www.mysql.com/> 5.7.17
All the executables are working fine (including pdfinfo, etc.) and process
PDFs fine when called on their own. But on the wiki page still says 0x0,
with not thumbnails. All directories are writeable by web-server. It seems
all is in order, but basically PDF Handler isn’t working out of the box.
Any help, suggestions?

I'm developing a new site using mediawiki and want to use columns on the
MainPage in place of a table which isn't displaying things as I really
want. But how do I do it please? I can't find any reference to columns
showing how its done in the mediawiki documentation, so I'm at a loss.
Can somebody please advise me?
Thanks
Sharon.
