Thanks a ton guys, that worked for me for the edit pages. But when accessing the Query Form pages or Solr Search pages (these generally use the Special Pages for working which is embedded in the link, again I am unable to do away with the index.php and title. Any insight on this. Thanks Again. Palash

URL shortening issue: MediaWiki

I was trying to make my URLs free of any php file name like index.php. I followed the ShortUrl help provided in the wiki documentation and the normal pages are now void of any "title=" or "index.php", just as I wanted. But the link again shows the older naive format (including index.php and title=) when I am editing any existing page, or using a query form for searching through the forms. The solr search also shows them. What exactly should I do to prettify my "edit" and "search" URLs? My site uses nginx. Thanks in advance for the help.

Username/Password Recovery using email address

My wiki is lacking the functionality to recover a username or password using an email address. The installed version is 1.24.2. I have noticed that v 1.26.2 has this functionality by default. How can I enable this recovery function on v 1.24.2? Thanks, Dustin

1.26.2 : web updater displays index.php without styles and can't find an existing installation

Dear all, I have a problem with updating mediawiki 1.18.1 to the current version 1.26.2. Since I have no access to the command line, I am using the web browser instead. The problem is that index.php in mw-config is read, but it is displayed without styles. I am still able to select a language. But when I click "continue", the next page is white. The procedure doesn't find an existing installation, even though a Localsettings.php exists in the root directory. Please help.
