Dear All
I had a wiki running on an Ubuntu-Linux server. Mediawiki was installed using the Ubuntu software package manager. After an update from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10, the wiki was not not accessible anymore, the browser said "Not Found / The requested URL /mediawiki was not found on this server.”. I guess the fix might have been trivial, but I did not know where to look, and I got so impatient that I decided to re-install. I mad a mySQL dump of the wiki database (and renamed the database so that it would not get in the way). Then I removed the Mediawiki software using the Ubuntu package manager. Then I installed mediawiki 1.22 following the instructions at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Running_MediaWiki_on_Ubuntu . Now I have a new, empty wiki that is accessible from the web browser.
Question: how do I get the content from my old wiki back?
Cheers
Matthias
Dear Teammates,
Does anyone out there have some export from MW 1.6.5 which I need to import into MW 1.22.2 advice ?
I would appreciate it a hundred fold.
thx,
L
I am running Mediawiki 1.22.2, PHP 5.46, MySQL 5.5.27 on Ubuntu 12.10.
When I setup the Wiki I was able to change the logo to a new one. I then
edited the Main Page and now the logo is gone. The logo does appear from
time to time on different pages but no longer appears when I go to my main
page. Any pointers on how to correct this.I have tested this on MSIE 11 and
Chrome Version 34 (latest at this time) on Windows 7.

[Posting as this might be interesting for MediaWiki technical
administrators who deal with the bugtracker and the code review system]
Hi,
as previously announced [1], we've been facilitating a collective review
of Wikimedia's current product management tools and development
toolchain.
The most popular idea at the moment is to consolidate Wikimedia's
product management and infrastructure tools (such as Bugzilla, Gerrit,
RT, Mingle, Trello) into all-in-one Phabricator. We have therefore put
together a Request for comment to bring this up for wider discussion.
This discussion affects anyone who deals with bug reports, feature
requests and code changes in Wikimedia, so it's critical that you test
Phabricator for your own use and make your voice heard in the RFC:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Requests_for_comment/Phabricator
We're compiling a list of Frequently asked questions at
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Requests_for_comment/Phabricator/FAQ ;
You're welcome to add more and help answer them :)
We'll host a few IRC discussions while the RFC is running to help answer
questions, etc. Our tentative times and dates are at
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Talk:Requests_for_comment/Phabricator#IRC_di…
Thank you for your input!

Dear Teammates,
I was importing an xml file that a user sent me created by an older wiki 1.6.5.
The import appeared to be successful, is said so, and it said there were 7 revisions.
When I view the page in MW 1.22.2, it is blank.
PHP is unhappy, as indicated below. Any ideas ?
thx,
L

There's been discussions before about being able to share code style
settings between MediaWiki users for PhpStorm. To this end, I've started a
PhpStorm plugin [1] that adds this functionality, allowing preferences to be
set from a MediaWiki predefined style. Thanks to Siebrand and Physikerwelt
for their example configurations.
There is also functionality to search MediaWiki.org for selected text using
the context menu.
It can be installed using the inbuilt plugin manager in PhpStorm.
More functionality to come, somewhat emulating the Wordpress plugin [2]. I
imagine the Hook support would be quite useful for many people too.
Code is currently on github [3], maybe should be moved to gerrit sometime in
the future. Pull requests and issues happily accepted.

As we all know, Gerrit doesn't have the best interface, but even more so,
it's not very mobile friendly. There is however mGerrit [1] for Android
which does a nice job.
Also, we're not in the list of default "supported" Gerrit instannces (yes, I
know WikiMedia is in CamelCase, this is already reported and fixed
upstream).
If you've any issues with the software emailing the developer directly is
quite good at yielding responses.

Hi -- I've created some custom namespaces, and they appear in the
Namespace dropdown of the Special:All Pages page, but when I create a
page in the namespace, it only appears in the Main namespace.
For example: let's say there's a namespace called The Shapers World.
I'm able to create a page called The_Shapers_World:Home, and it
appears in the browser address bar as /The_Shapers_World:Home... but
when I look at Special:All Page, it only shows up under the Main
namespace.
Further, if I filter the All Pages list to just The Shapers World,
after I click GO, no pages are listed AND the following appears:
Display Pages Starting At: The Shapers World:The Shapers World:
Display Pages Ending At: The Shapers World:The Shapers World:
I'm not sure what I've done wrong!
Help..? Thanks!

I've been having some issues with the mediawiki site I run (& just
updated) pulling & displaying .svg files from commonswiki. Other formats
seem to work & not all .svg files are causing this issue. Seems they are
polled but no thumbnails or images are actually displayed om the wiki
site web pages. I've had a few responses to the more generalized issues
of not being able to upload files as well. But, so far I'm not sure what
is the issues. I have reverted back my LocalSettings.php to include
these settings;
> $wgEnableUploads = true;
> $wgUseImageMagick = true;
> $wgUseImageResize = true;
> $wgImageMagickConvertCommand = "/usr/bin/convert";
> #$wgSVGConverter = 'ImageMagick';
> $wgSVGConverter = 'rsvg';
> $wgSVGConverterPath = "/usr/bin/";
>
I've tried using ImageMagick, & inkscape also, but I get the same result.
Any ideas?
Thanks
John
