Greetings!
I am trying to find out if certain terms are blocked by Mediawiki or if
it may be something particular to my host?
I tried putting the following in as part of a wiki page entry:
"Through a combination of mystic insight and a natural enhancement of
your sense of smell, you gain a near-supernatural ability to detect
hidden creatures."
I kept getting a 403 - Forbidden error.
Through trial and error, I found that the term "natural enhancement" was
causing this.
Any ideas? Has anyone had similar problems?
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a spam filter whereby one can specify a filter pattern along with the specific page to which the filter applies AND can be accessed and modified via the API?
thanks,

I'd like to print an entire wiki / entire namespace for archival purposes -
I do some work for a small co-op nonprofit; it's unclear if there will be
people around in say 2-42 years from now who will be keeping up their
MediaWiki, but it has written documents from 40 years ago that people often
enjoy looking at for historical interest, and sometimes even for functional
reasons.
Keep in mind this MediaWiki has hundreds and hundreds of pages, so anything
that requires selecting a lot of stuff in a clunky way doesn't really work.
The closest thing I've found is linked to below - I actually used this with
success ~2009 with a older MediaWiki version (on 1.19.2 now) - but it
hasn't been updated against both the extension itself and more recent
versions of MediaWiki.
Original: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:PdfBook
Patch: http://www.mediawiki
.org/wiki/Extension_talk:PdfBook#Whole_Namespace_Export
Does anyone know of something similar that works against 1.19.x? I've tried
all the obvious candidates, but they don't seem to support this use case.
If not, anyone feel like trying to get the above to work? I'm guessing it
wouldn't be too hard for someone with PHP clue - it's 57 lines, but I think
all but around 8 of them are just cut-and-paste from
another similar function that still exists in the newer PdfBook version.
Thanks for any help,
-Danny
Hello all,
just installed "bitnami-mediawiki-1.20.2-0-windows-installer" on a machine
with Windows 7 32bit Eng. ...and cant get the mail notification to work. As
I am quite new to wiki, and almost zero experience with PHP it might be a
quite easy problem/solution. Ithink I managed to isntall pear - at least
when typing pear list a see a list of packages like: mail, mail_mime,
net_smtp. Firewall is off, tried interal company smtp as well as gmail, the
settings of internal company are copied from other machine that is working
well so should be fine anyway.
the exact mesage when trying to send my self the confirmation mail is:
Wiki! could not send your confirmation mail. Please check your e-mail
address for invalid characters. Mailer returned: Failed to connect to
X.X.X.X:25 [SMTP: Failed to connect socket: A connection attempt failed
because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time,
or established connection failed because connected host has failed to
respond. (code: -1, response: )]
Please advice
Thanks

I'm currently working on a skin I'm helping develop, and I was wondering if it is possible to have different skins use different wiki logo pictures?
I want it so that when a user changes from one skin to the custom skin, the new skin loads up with the preselected logo specific to that skin, but switches back to the default logo when the skin is reverted back to the default.
I was thinking it would be possible to do this via an edit to the screen.css file of my custom skin (based on Vector), but I'm not sure what I should be doing or if that would work properly.
If anyone has some advice, thank you in advance.
Hello,
I want to write some text on one page and have it automatically show up on
two pages by tagging it or linking it. Can MediaWiki do that?
Example:
URL: wiki/page1
Content: Title, Body, etc.
Section 2: Special text that exists on both page 1 and page 2.
URL: wiki/page2
Content: Title, Body, etc.
Section 2: Special text that exists on both page 1 and page 2.
Maybe there's some extension? Any ideas or keywords I can search for?
Thanks!
Simon
Hi,
Problem: we have a naked wiki, no skins at all, and a set of images for what the wiki should look like. We have no one who knows how to make a skin.
Steps to resolve: create a skin, so that the images can just be copied to the corresponding folders.
Question: how do you make a skin for media wiki? Can an existing one be downloaded from a complete wiki, like a style for a vBulletin forum? Does it require a frontend developer?

Hi there,
I'm trying to use Kerberos with the LDAP Extension. My configuration is the following:
Mediawiki - 1.20.2
LDAP Extension - 2.0d (master-07ea71d)
Kerberos is working, $_SERVER["REMOTE_USER"] is properly set.
As soon as I enable the parameter $wgLDAPAutoAuthDomain in my LocalSettings.php the selection box for domain in the login form is empty and I cannot login with username/password anymore.
If I also enable AutoAuthSetup(); I get a blank page with the following PHP-error message:
Fatal error: Call to a member function isLoggedIn() on a non-object in /export/kw4ua102/htdocs/mediawiki-1.20.2/extensions/LdapAuthentication/LdapAuthentication.php on line 1136
LDAP without Auto-Login works fine.
Any ideas? Is Auto-Login not supported with the most recent Mediawiki release? If you need any additional information - please ask!
Thanks in advantage
Alex
Dear all,
is there an opportunity to allow multiple responses for radio buttons in
the survey extension (checking more than 1 answer)?
Thanks a lot and best regards,
