I just upgraded my mediawiki installation from 1.15 to 1.17.
Then I removed the FCKeditor extension and completely reinstalled it from the mediawiki site (version 1.17.x compatible) but it does not work anymore.
I just can't see the « Rich Editor » button in edit mode.
Any idea ?
Cordialement,
Olivier LEVILLAIN

Do you love coding MediaWiki extensions in PHP and administering wikis?
Looking for a new challenge?
My team at Vistaprint is seeking an accomplished LAMP developer with experience in MediaWiki development and configuration. Come share your talents at a successful company where our global wikis are respected, critical resources. The challenges of a large, corporate wiki are quite different from those of public Internet sites (and quite interesting too): solving business problems, integrating with complex systems, making your co-workers more efficient through automation, measuring the success of solutions, etc.
The position is located in Lexington, Massachusetts (near Boston).
Prerequisites:
- Truly outstanding PHP and JavaScript skills
- Thorough understanding of MediaWiki template-writing and parser functions
- Skilled in both Linux and Windows environments (commands like "paste filelist1 filelist2 | sed 's/^/mv /' | bash" should be simple for you)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Other helpful, optional skills:
- WordPress programming (plugins)
- Any technical writing experience
- Any teaching/training experience (developing or delivering training to technical audiences)
About Vistaprint: We are a global, profitable e-commerce company that makes real products you can hold in your hand. Last year we shipped 22.9 million orders to 11.4 million customers and had over $800M in revenue. The work environment is fun and challenging, and we're still growing fast.
I am the hiring manager for this position. Send resumes to dbarrett(a)vistaprint.com.

Hi,
have this site http://spaceweek.de - (german link) - and since 6 month I try
to find the mistake....don`t know why I can´t edit it anymore...when I login
as admin it seems that the edit buttom can not be loaded and therefor the
sites are just white (can't load) ....when I login as burocrat it is
possible, because there is no edit buttom included.
Checked the files localsettings and change "false" to "true" - but it also
didn't work....does someone has an idea what I can do? I also would like to
mak an update ...perhaps I shall delete everything and do it again...am
grateful for any help or advice.
Thank you.
Karin
Hallo,
K. Krebs
I have a debian distro mediawiki v.1.15 site on one computer that I want to
move to another directory with the newer version mediawiki v.1.17 installed
and working from a tarball. Still on the same debian system. i created a new
database for the new mediawiki...I want to import/restore the database from
the old version to the new one.I exported the database from the old ver.
using phpmyadmin, no issue there. When I tried to import it to the new ver.
database it errored out saying the file was too big. Any ideas on how to do
this? I also have Webmin installed with access to all these same databases,
if that helps.
Thanks!
John
Hi @all.
I'm new in mailing lists, and I hope it is correct how to place my
request rigth here.
It would be a great help to me if anybody could give a statement to the
Following.
Is there a Plan to add CoreSupport for MS-SQL in MediaWiki in the
Future?
I See that there is no reason to to that, but I badly need an response
from you, to support my preferred Installation of MySQL ...
Thanks alot for helping me out with just a few lines as an Answer to
this.
Best whishes,
Kai

The most frequent problem on our wiki (MediaWiki 1.17.0) involves re-uploads of images, where users are fooled by browser caching:
1. A user uploads a modified version of an existing image (File:Foobar.jpg)
2. After the upload, user views File:Foobar.jpg but the old image is still showing.
3. User tries uploading 10 more times. The old image is still showing.
4. User calls tech support, who says, "press ctrl-F5 to refresh your browser."
5. User presses ctrl-F5 and the new image shows up.
Obviously the problem is due to browser caching. Is there any way for the MediaWiki software to prevent this problem from happening and show only uncached images on File:Foobar.jpg? The average user doesn't know anything about browser caching.
(We already added a note to the Upload page that explains the problem. People don't notice the note - their attention is focused on uploading their image.)
Thanks,
DanB
