It appears the user.user_password field changed in the upgrade from
1.12 to 1.13, but I didn't see any mention of it in the Release Notes.
I'm using $wgPasswordSalt = false so I can connect mod_auth_mysql to
the user table for password protection. (See my blog post at http://tinyurl.com/y7ue8k)
In MediaWiki 1.13, with password salting turned off, the password 32
byte MD5 hash is now prepended with a letter and the user_id. For
example:
76cecfa967423834abdbd1c8a8ac4125 (user_password in 1.12)
:B:1:76cecfa967423834abdbd1c8a8ac4125 (user_password in 1.13)
Could someone please point me to information about this change? Is it
possible to disable this password prefix so it will continue to be
only an MD5 hash?

name spaces for each Basic language. I'm having a problem defining or
understanding how to create categories specific to each language name space.

If I have a page named "SB:STRING()" and want to assign it to the "SB
Category:String Functions" category, everything is grouped under "S" due to
the language name space.
I searched till for hours trying to find the solution to this and nothing.
If anyone could shed some light on using categories that are unique to name
spaces, I would be very grateful. My wiki project is on hold till this gets
resolved.

No he trabajado esta extensión TreeandMenu pero fíjate que está
generando mal la URL de la página a editar. Por eso da el error.
Cuando tienes el cursor sobre el enlace en el menú fíjate en la barra de
estado de tu navegador, la URL es:

Y debería ser:
http://iwebutpl.com/jvgonzales/portal/index.php?title=Salud_y_comunidad&act…
Como puedes ver sobra "\ después de portal/ y sobra también \" al final.
Además una parte de la ruta está duplicada (/jvgonzales/portal/).
Puede ser que en la instalación o configuración de la extensión hayas
dado la URL en algún momento y esté mal?
Creo que el problema debería estar por ahí.

Usted quiere tener una página que facilita la creación de nuevas páginas.
Usted quiere navegación automáticamente?
He leído un post acerca de un chico que estaba recibiendo una página que le dijo, "Esta página no existe." Esto es un texto normal, dependiendo de su modelo de permiso y, en general, si usted está conectado y haga clic en editar usted será capaz de crear la página. Si no desea que el texto se puede cambiar el mensaje. Cualquier defecto MediaWiki mensaje que no le gusta usted puede encontrar y el cambio en la página Especial: Allmessages
Si no he ayudado, y usted tiene acceso a IRC, en el canal mediawiki se puede encontrar un usuario llamado Platonides usuario y que habla Español e Inglés y tiene una mejor comprensión técnica de MediaWiki que yo (en ambos idiomas)!

Is your installation of MediaWiki viewable to the public? What version are you using? I think I could help you better (and some of the other mailing list posters too) if we could see your site and see what you are trying to do.
What I think I understand so far is:
You want to have a low technical barrier to entry.
You want to have a page which makes it easy to create new pages.
You want navigation built automatically?
I read one post about a guy who was getting a page which told him, "This page doesn't exist." That is normal text, depending on your permission model, and usually if you are logged in and click edit you will be able to create the page. If you don't want that text you can change the message. Any default MediaWiki message you don't like you can find and change on the page Special:Allmessages
If I haven't helped, and you have access to IRC, on the mediawiki chanel you can usually find a user named Platonides and that user speaks Spanish and English and has a better technical understanding of MediaWiki than I do (in both languages)!

I tryed installing TableEdit, but I still don't have the table icon.
When I executed the
php update_schema.php -w ../..
I assumed that the ../.. is the directory path to my Wiki.
How should I go about debugging this?

1. Create a Category named "String Functions"
2. Create several Categories named "XX String Functions" (say "VB String Functions",
"GB String Functions", ...) and place each Category itself in "String Functions"
Category (thus the category page "GB String Functions" belongs to "String Functions"

3. The string functions page of each language belongs to the appropriate category.
(As example, the "VB:Left" belongs to "VB String Functions").

Before I go out of my mind, does Mediawiki correct things after I hit
save???? I'm sure it doesn't.
I have the following line in one of my ridiculously complicated templates
which involves SMW and properties:

Right at then end is a ":x" that I want to remove. So I edit the template
and change it to:

Hit save and bingo, nothing changes! I can change other parts of the
template and that works. I can substitute any text for the :x and that works
but if I just delete :x it pops back.
I'm going mad????
