Hey guys,
How would tackle this php error:
Catchable fatal error: Object of class PEAR_Error could not be
converted to string in /w/includes/GlobalFunctions.php on line 521
I can send out emails as a result of this.
Help appreciated,
Vivek

I'm probably misunderstanding, but image files are not stored in the
database. They are in a hashed directory structure, with a file path
in the database.

the questions! ::::

*Greetings to all MediaWiki developers,*
My name is Erlend "Sadr" S. Heggen, and I am a project manager for the
JFusion <http://www.jfusion.org/> project. A while ago I did some brief
inquiries on your IRC-channel in order to figure out what would be the best
way to get in touch with MW's developers and have my voice heard, and this
mailing list seems to be what I was looking for, so pardon me if I'm
mistaken.
*
**About JFusion*:
*"JFusion is a free GPL Extension for the award winning Content Management
System (CMS) Joomla! <http://www.joomla.org/>. JFusion provides universal
user integration, by extending the Joomla 1.5 user authentication
framework without
any core hacks.
With JFusion your users can login to both Joomla and the software(s)
integrated by JFusion using the same username/password. No core hacks are
made to either Joomla or the integrated software(s) which has the advantage
that you can upgrade your software normally without any tedious
reconfigurations.*"
In case that didn't project a big enough image, the big advantage here would
be how JFusion handles *all* bridges on a site that's using several
different softwares (e.g. Joomla! + MediaWiki + SMF + Coppermine Gallery) at
once, making sure there are no conflicts in between each bridge. There's
also the unique slave/master function, which allows the admin to select
which software should act as the master of the user database.
So my question is simple: Are there any MediaWiki developers / MediaWiki
adepts, who could be interesting in aiding us with making a plug-in to
support MediaWiki as one of JFusion's growing range of bridges?
For proof of concept, see joomlawiki.org <http://www.joomlawiki.org/> and
joomla.anezi.net <http://joomla.anezi.net/en/awiki-demo.html>. The
developers of these extensions will be contacted shortly after the sending
of this message. I hope you can see that there's a considerable demand for
this type of solution, and I dear say what JFusion offers is a revolutionary
way for the end-user to make his favorite picks between (what we hope will
become-) a wide range of high quality open source projects to bring them
together as one, all without hardly any technical insight at all.
For the record, JFusion is currently closing in on a
beta-version<http://www.jfusion.org/index.php/119-Video-preview-of-1.1-Beta.html>,
scheduled for release December 25th. Starting any work on a plug-in before
that time would probably be a bad idea, seeing as a lot of changes will have
been made. Should anyone be interested in helping us out, you should simply
get in touch so that we can start discussing and we'll take it from there.
Any technical questions should be directed to the creator and main
contributor of this project, Marius <mariusvr(a)gmail.com>, to whom I'm
sending a copy of this mail as well.
*I hope you'll get back to me with positive response shortly.
Sincerely,
~ Erlend*

Hey guys,
So I managed to compile texvc on openbsd/sparc64 4.3 inside the
/mediawiki/math/ folder using 'gmake texvc.bc'
I enabled TeX in Localsettings.php and created directories for math
and tmp under /mediawiki/images. However, to my dismay, I get the
error "Failed to parse (unknown error):"
I enabled logging in mediawiki and the output I get during the parsing is:
Unstubbing $wgParser on call of $wgParser->firstCallInit from
MessageCache::transform
TeX: ./math/texvc '/w/uploads/tmp' '/w/uploads/tmp' 'E=mc^2' 'UTF-8'
TeX output:
---
I should some output after TeX output, but nothing instead. I tried
running the command manually and png ended up in my directory, so I
know texvc is working. Someone on RHEL had the same problem and they
found out SELinux was causing the problem, so I figured there's
something in OpenBSD that does a similar action. The math and tmp
folders are chmoded to 777 for now.
Should I change something in Localsettings.php? I literally have no
clue as to what to do next.
Help appreciated,
Vivek
I've just finished migrating and upgrading my mediawiki server from
1.8.2 to 1.13.2. I also migrated it to another server so I have the old
version to refer to if needed. I got a complaint today that there was a
page missing. I checked it and it just comes up completely blank with no
404 error or permissions error or anything like that. Its just a blank
page. When I did the upgrade I did a random spot check of a bunch of
pages to make sure everything looked ok. I did that again today and
everything I've checked other than this page looks fine.
I'm not familiar with the layout of the database but I went through and
looked at the tables to see if there was anything that looked promising.
Between the two servers/versions, everything for this entry seems to
match in searchindex, pagelinks, page, categorylinks, and archive from
what I can find just searching for the text string or the id numbers
that I'm getting but I'm really going at this blind. Is there a better
way to verify a broken link for this? Would re-running the update.php
script do anything? I'd be happy to just re-create the page since its
just this one but I don't know how to delete the page thats there
without being able to get to it through the web. Any help is
appreciated. Thanks!
Josh
Hi,
First sorry for my poor english.
I'm running Mediawiki 1.13.0 on a production web site for children and
noticed a (big) problem on users pages whose names contain a "+".
Here is an example with user P6++
When I access :
> http://fr.wikimini.org/wiki/Utilisateur:P6++,
I'm redirected to :
> http://fr.wikimini.org/wiki/Utilisateur:P6 (without ++) !!!
I've just created a similar account on Wikipedia fort testing purposes.
When I access :
> http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utilisateur:Z6++
I get the page :
> http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utilisateur:Z6++ (with ++) !!!
Actually the problem seems to be specific to the "+" sign. For example,
http://fr.wikimini.org/wiki/Utilisateur:!!!$$zOuzOu$$!!! is working fine!
This problem is really annoying as the
http://fr.wikimini.org/wiki/Utilisateur:P6++ page shows an empty page even
if there is some content on it!
Could someone help?

Our first goal is to add HTML text (a horizontal menu bar on top) to all pages
CSS is already added (formatting with another selector may be better, of course, but that isnŽt my problem - at this moment ;-) )
We are lookiong for the best way to add that text without changing skin itself.
Once more:
Is JavaScript at MediaWiki:Common.js an accepted way and if yes, how to output not confusing rendering of "the rest" ?
