Is there a parser function/extension that turns off caching
completely just for a specific page?

Can you put a comment inside a double bracket link that isn't visible
to casual users, but is (of course) visible when editing the page?
Example: Bob is married to [[Jenny {Jenny is an elf}]]
where the link would say "Jenny" and link to "Jenny"? Obviously, {}
doesn't work, but is there any syntax that does?
My goal: I'm testing a new MediaWiki extension, but need the pages to
remain compatible w/ a regular MediaWiki. I'd like to do:
Bob is married to [[Jenny {Jenny::category::elf}]]
where a regular MediaWiki server shows this the same as [[Jenny]]
(except when editing), but my test MediaWiki server parses into the
comment and does something w/ it.
That way, I could have the exact same data on both servers, but have
it parsed on my experimental extension-testing server.

I'd like to mirror a MediaWiki (I'm not the administrator) by:
1. Using the MediaWiki API to get a list of all the pages + then
download the content of each page.
2. Every day, use the API to "visit" the recent changes page and keep
grabbing pages until the I get to a page whose version matches the
version I already have.
Both of these steps are fairly easy-- has someone written a
Perl/PHP/Python/whatever script to do this, or should I roll my own?

hi,
in mediawiki exists a "localization bar" that shows the way of the article
that I am?
for example: Main Page > Calc > Sub...
some extension makes this?
debtor.

Hmm sorry bit of a steep learning curve for me I'm not sure how to do
what you suggest - how do I get to that page?

Sudden thought and edited the URL to read
"index.php?title=MediaWiki:Sitesubtitle"
Thought - "I'm not as stupid as I thought" as the page displayed. I
changed the entry but lo and behold nothing has altered, it still shows
as "The Free Encyclopedia". Really felt daft then so opened it up in
another browser that has an I and an E in it and bingo all there, it was
just caching.
Many many many thanks.
Just out of interest can you point me to where I could have found this
answer so I can try harder the next time a problem come up?

Thanks for this info. I added $wgRestrictionLevels and
$wgRestrictionTypes and added 'training team' to the array. But when I
take protect page of an article, in the selectbox, it's showing
"<protect-level-training>"
(mine is MW 1.9.3).
Why it is so?
Regards,
Jack

You need to set it in LocalSettings.php - $wgRestrictionLevels if memory
serves.

Sorry if this posts twice but I got my settings wrong.
I installed this some time ago and have just got around to t
experimenting with it. The text "The Free Encyclopedia" appears in the
top left corner and I don't seem to be able to work out how to change
it. Can anyone help?
TIA

Dear All,
I've just finished installing mediawiki. Everything went fine, except for
the TeX configuration...
I've successfully compiled texvc and it runs correctly from the command
line. However, typing
<math>\sqrt{n}</math>
in a post, results in:
*Failed to parse (unknown error): \sqrt{n}***
I've set $wgTexvc, $wgUseTeX and $wgEnableUploads. Am I missing something?
Sincerely,
Bruno
