Peter Blaise responds: I'm getting:
"The MediaWiki logo
MediaWiki 1.10.0rc1
Please set up the wiki first.
http://wiki.stock-tech.com/config/index.php"
... when browsing to your site:

So, does anybody know possible causes and resolutions, considering the
givens? (How obvious is it now, Rob?)

I am trying to make a template that contains a table.
The trick is that I'm trying to inline a variable to the template to
send in variable table rows.
So far I've had no luck with my syntax and any suggestions would be
welcome...
Thanks
-Andrei
The following works:
Template:BaseTable
{|
! Head1
! Head2
|-
{{additionalRowTemp}}
{{additionalRowTemp}}
| line2-c1
| line2-c2
|}
---------
Template:additonalRowTemp
| foo-c1
| foo-c2
|-
-=-=-=-=-=-=
The Goal is to do:
{{BaseTable | additionalRow=
{{additionalRowTemp | c1=foo | c2=bar}}
{{additionalRowTemp | c1=baz | c2=zot}}
}}
---------
Template:BaseTable
{|
! Head1
! Head2
|-
{{{additionalRow}}}
| line2-c1
| line2-c2
|}
---------
Template: additionalRowTemp
{|
| {{{var1}}}
| {{{var2}}}
|+
}

Hi.
I've been roaminging the mediawiki maunals looking to see if it
will allow the SSI function, <!--#includee virtual="file" --> and do
it. I've found pages saying with tags one can't use. I've found
nothing yet on SSIs.
Can mediawiki do an old style SSI and where are file and virtual
relative to anyway? I've been unable to get it to work although the
browser doesn't gripe when the page shows up. A pointer to any
documentation on doing it or not in mediawiki would work too.
Many thanks.

I have an app that depends on a particular system message that might not
exist yet.
What is the correct way to accomplish the following logic in an
extension?
if (!wfMsg('my-message')) {
set 'my-message' to a default value
}
$wgOut->addWikiText(wfMsg('my-message'));
Thanks,

The first error:
... Adding ipb_anon_only field to table ipblocks...Query "RENAME
TABLE `ipblocks_newunique` TO `ipblocks` " failed with error code
"Error on rename of './wikidb/ipblocks_newunique' to
'./wikidb/ipblocks' (errno: 121) (localhost)".
After deleting 'ipblocks' comes the next error:
Creating page_restrictions table...Query "CREATE TABLE `page_restrictions` (
pr_page int(8) NOT NULL,
pr_type varchar(255) NOT NULL,
pr_level varchar(255) NOT NULL,
pr_cascade tinyint(4) NOT NULL,
pr_user int(8) NULL,
pr_expiry char(14) binary NULL,
PRIMARY KEY pr_pagetype (pr_page,pr_type),
KEY pr_page (pr_page),
KEY pr_typelevel (pr_type,pr_level),
KEY pr_level (pr_level),
KEY pr_cascade (pr_cascade)
) TYPE=InnoDB
" failed with error code "Can't create table './wikidb/page_restrictions.frm' (errno: 121) (localhost)".
This could be a never ending storry...

The script works fine with version 1.5 or newer, but not with 1.4.10. Is there an other way (perhaps export all data, new install, import)?

Peter Blaise (of all people!) responds: Hi and welcome, Matt. Sounds
frustrating. RTFM - read the factory manual! So, what page of the
owner's instruction manual are you having difficulty with? Hahaha -
just kidding. ;-)
But seriously, Matt, tell us more.
You say: "installing mediawiki" - what version?
You say: "on my server" - what server? Remote ISP? Local Windows 2000?
Intranet Linux and you're at a connected workstation?
You say: "it's saying" - who does the pronoun "it" stand for? It could
be one of many layers underneath MediaWiki. MediaWiki depends on:
- an operating system (Windows, Linix...)
- web server (Microsoft IIS, Apache...),
- PHP,
- a SQL RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL...),
... and so on. The message could be coming from anywhere. Tell us how
much of the support stuff you have successfully running without error
messages. For instance, can you get the PHP install and config screen
in your browser before you even download MediaWiki?
So, Matt, bring us to the exact point in your specific environment, and
we'll see what we can do to find out what's awry!

The Problem could be solved with deleting all ip related objects. Do i realy need them? However, the update.php script fails a bit later on creating "page_restrictions". It is too long. A smaller name works. Perhaps there is a mysql configuration to change?
Stephan
Hello All,
On an installation of mediawiki that we are running I've been tasked
with trying to get mediawiki to keep users logged in over a larger
period of time and across browser restarts. After poking around the
code I think I can do this by increasing the lifetime of the session
cookie by using session_set_cookie_params.
However in GlobalFunctions.php, wfSetupSession calls
session_set_cookie_params like this:
session_set_cookie_params( 0, $wgCookiePath, $wgCookieDomain );
I can of course change this line to add in a lifetime value. However
I find changing core code always causes problems when updating or
patching.
My question is: Do you think it will be possible in a future release
of MediaWiki to add a $wgCookieLifetime configuration variable that
can be used in session_set_cookie_params. The default value in
DefaultSettings.php can be set to 0 and then can be overridden in
LocalSettings.php if required.
Thanks,
Paul.
Hello everybody,
I have a problem with Templates: When I created a template for
formatting a large set of addresses, I used headlines (with == headline
== for being able to structure the page and giving users the possibility
to change certain addresses only without seeing the code for the whole
page.
The problem is: When I click on 'edit' on a certain headline, I get an
empty code instead of the code for the certain address.
What can I do to change that? Besides that, the output looks exactly as
I expected. But I can only edit the whole page not certain addresses -
that's the problem.
Thanks for any ideas.
Regards
Andreas
P.S. Here's an example to what I did:
First try:
<<
Template:Addresses:
=={{{Title}}} {{{Name}}}==
Address: {{{Street}}}
Country: {{{Country}}}
Addresses-file:
{{Template:Addresses
|Title=M.Sc
|Name=Max
|Street=Roadname
|Country=Germany
}}
>>
In a second step, I changed that to help MediaWiki understand me, but it
didn't help:
<<
Template:Addresses-headline:
{{{Title}}} {{{Name}}}
Template:Addresses
Address: {{{Street}}}
Country: {{{Country}}}
Addresses-file:
=={{Addresses-headline
|Title=M.Sc
|Name=Max
}}==
{{Addresses
|Street=Roadname
|Country=Germany
}}
>>
Any further ideas?
