Hi,
is it possible to open a new explorer window or a new tab by clicking on a link? Links both of the content (e.g. links in articles) and mediawiki itself (e.g. Spezialpages)?

Hi
I would like to set another namespace default for Special:Newpages. I my
case i would set it to 'all'. Is it possible to do that without changing
mediawiki code?
Greetings from Switzerland.

We have updated our wiki to use LDAP and it works great.
My question is .. What do I do with all existing User Ids? Do I need to
use the Merge/Delete extension to move all of 'joes' articles to
josephj?
What is best practice?
TIA

I have the apache user in a group that can write to /images and would
prefer that all subdirectories not be world-writeable. But it seems
that MW is creating them that way. Do I just change wfMkdirParents
in GlobalFunctions.php?

You can do it by simply adding file:// to the list of protocols handled in
LocalSettings.php. See http://www.mwusers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3471
A couple of additional limitations / gotchas:
1) Obviously those will be file links, so the permissions will be based on
the user clicking on them. This can be good and bad...
2) Generally, using drive letters under windows is problematic since most
folks don't have the drives mapped identically. Use FQNs where possible.
3) You can't have spaces in the file or directory names. You can get
around this by urlencoding the links, or using the 8.3 names in Windows.
The upshot of 2 & 3 above is that a link to S:\Important Files\Foo.xls
becomes
[file://ServerName\ShareName$\Important%20Files\Foo.xls My link to the
file]

Hi,
My articles are something like long FAQs. These questions are based on
different topics. So I want to add keywords (tag/annotate) to each
question and retrieve those questions on another page which have a
common keyword.
I think I can use Semantic Mediawiki also to annotate the content; but
the problem I think is that while doing a semantic search, the result
would be an article. I need only a particular section of the article as
result.
Iwhat about the extension LST (labelled section transclusion)? suppose i
have many articles in which i annotated sections with the keyword
"linux". in another page i want to display all the sections with "linux"
as keyword; or a link to those sections. i think, as per the current
functionality, we need to use the article name as a parameter, like
{{#lst:article|chapter1}}. but in my case, i have many articles, and i
don't know their names. my requirement is to find where all i have
relevent information on "linux".
can it be achieved?

Hi,
Could I login to MW without typing the username and password?
Non-logged-in users cannot read pages in my MW.
I try to do if somebody gives an URL to the browser and the authentication
could be automatic.
Other solutions?

Gabor

Peter Blaise responds: Corrupt browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Try another system, try rebuilding, and cleansing all temp and cache
files in your current browser editor system. Windows? Reboot in safe
mode and clean there. Worked for us. Also, Mozilla Firefox worked for
me flawlessly all the time, so I stopped troubleshooting MSIE
(pronounced "MiSerIE").
In an extension function, i want to check whether the current page is
new or already existing. which function i can call to get that info?
