Hello!
One of my wiki is growing an growing, now the DB is approx. 600 MB
(unexperienced users dont often use the preview ;)).
The sysops in the wiki have deleted several articles in the wiki, but of cause,
they are still physical available in the DB (and restore-able for sysops).
How to remove the "deleted revisions" permanently from the DB?
maintenance/DeleteOldRevisions.php doesnt seem to be what I'm looking for; this
removes the version-historie from all pages.
maintenance/DeleteOrphanRevisions.php doesnt seem to do anything - "0 found".
I hope anyone has a tipp,
Regards,
Jan
Hi,
I'm trying to get rid of the old revisions in my wiki (1.82).
Using "php deleteOldRevisions.php" I get the reply:
Searching for active revisions...done.
Searching for inactive revisions...done.
0 old revisions found.
But for sure, I do have (too many) old revisions in the wiki.
So, where is the problem?
Thanks in advance, zaydo

When I run the update.php script it hangs on "Deleting old default
message..." every time. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
Thankyou -- Sam Wilson.
Hi there!
With the inputbox extension, is there a way to directly create a page
without having to submit the edit form that is displayed after
clicking inputbox's create button?
Cheers,

Hello,
in spanish the term "discussion" is translated "discusión" (with
ó).
Now how to set up a custom namespace called "ES_Discusión" in an
international (utf-8) wiki? If following the description from
Help:Custom namespaces (from meta) and coding it as html "ó" it
is displayed as is - and if coding it in iso-8859, it is displayed with
the small black questionmark rhomb - which is normal behavior in utf-8.
The meta instruction says "Do not save LocalSettings.php as Unicode,
because PHP cannot handle it" - so is there any possibility to get
things done?
(for php reasons we still use mediawiki 1.6.8 /php 4.3.3)

I published a new extension named AddPageService.
It enables external programs to add or edit pages on the wiki just as a
regular user, through a web service interface.
Feedback is welcome.

Then, the upload page reply is an error...
I think that all files are detected like text/plain ...(I can see the
same with ppt's).
My solution was set $wgMimeDetectorCommand="file -bi" and
$wgVerifyMimeType = false in LocalSettings....
But now, all office files (.xls,.ppt etc.) are detected as
application/msword and not as application/vnd.powerpoint (o excel...)....
This work OK, but the content of the image table can be wrong.
Can be the wrong data in image table a great problem in the future?
(today doesn't seems to be a problem...)
Thanks.

PS: Excuse my english again !!!!!
Thanks to everyone who's been helping.
As I get closer to my goal, I have some more complex questions
regarding templates, protected pages, transclusions, pre-loading, etc.
It would be really useful to have a "test wiki" I could point people
to to show them what I've done so far, and why it doesn't work.
Ideally, this would be one where any registered user could
protect/unprotect pages (of course, giving any user the power to
protect/unprotect pages makes protection meaningless, but this would
be more to experiment with protected pages, not actually protect
them).
Is there such a "test wiki" out there?
I realize I could create test pages and even templates on ANY wiki
(even mediawiki.org or wikipedia.org), but it would be wrong to

Can someone please remind me how/where to check which version of Mediawiki

Getting ready to upgrade to a newer version....
