Please help:
is the following
- a known bug,
- a "feature" or
- a configurable behavior ??
Article First contains an dynamically include via Second.
In article Second is a link to Third.
Third will be shown in "What links here?" of First
So far so good.
If you then change in Second the link Third to Other - Third link still remains in "What links here?" of First (purging cache or not)
Only after a minor change in First the link table will be refreshed.
The only but unwanted way I see is a frequently use of maintenance/refreshLinks.php ??

Hello,
I want to remove a bunch of links from the various menus, because I
don't think my wiki will need them for a long time if ever. It's kind
of confusing what the best way to go about this is, though.
For example I don't want a 'donations'/'site support' link.
There's MediaWiki:Sidebar, as well as MediaWiki:sitesupport-url and
MediaWiki:sitesupport. So I could make the latter two blank, or just
remove the line
** sitesupport-url|sitesupport
from MediaWiki:Sidebar. (Actually I guess I have to remove the line,
otherwise the bullet will still show up...)
and I don't want a link to the privacy policy and Disclaimer on every
page. I want to change the warning under the edit box.
Basically I want to know how to match elements that appear regularly,
that are obviously in the MediaWiki namespace, to the things they're
actually in, and what is the best way to customise all this, keeping
in mind the desire to make the changes stick after future upgrades.
Thanks,
Brianna

Yea, but it's a damn good example of functional anarchy!
Despite its problems, some of which I sometimes grouse about, I am
very grateful for WikiPedia's (and MediaWiki's) existance!

Hello,
I changed this in LocalSettings.php:
$wgDefaultSkin = 'cologneblue';
and it's fine when I browse anonymously, but when I log in it
immediately reverts to Monobook. In the user settings, it has "cologne
blue (default)", but it still appears to have selected Monobook as the
default.
>From this thread (
http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/mediawiki-l/2005-December/009143.html
) it seems like it's actually not possible, but it seems a bit odd -
why do user prefs pick up Monobook as the default?
Thanks,
Brianna

Hi folks,
I'm currently pushing my company to adopt mediawiki as our main collaborative
working tool.
I'm looking for a way to automaticaly create an article containing a list of
permanent links pointing to specific versions of articles. It could be a
category but this category should be "frozen"; the category should list the
articles versions frozen at time T.
In short, I'm trying to "tag" (as in cvs or subversion) a list of articles.
Is it feasible with mediawiki? Maybe using some Bots?
Thanks,
Fred
Hi all
I am actually finishing to translate into French the messages of the Special:Allmessages page !
But I do not want to make this job again if I upgrade Mediawiki or if I change the server of my wiki !
Is there a simple way to backup this page and only this page ?

After a successful Intranet SSO validation, New MediaWiki user accounts are
created automatically via the User:Otheus/Auto_Login_via_REMOTE_USER
method.
Fields provided in the header variables include:
Uniquemployeenum, Firstname,Lastname, Commonfullname (i.e."Bobby Jones" vs.
"Roberta Jones")'
I would like the common name (Bobby Jones) to appear on MediaWiki pages as
Username. But to account for duplicate names (200,000+ employees here) it
would be acceptable to have the Username be Commonfullname_Uniqueemployeenum
(Bobby Jones 395234).
What happens when Roberta Jones gets married and becomes 'Roberta Chang'
a.k.a. 'Bobby Chang'?
The next time she visits the wiki, 'Bobby Chang 395234' will not be found in
the user table and the AutoLogin script will create a new user. Poor Bobby
will now have to manage a double identity. Or worse, she will email me and
ask if I can move all her old history/data/pages to her new name.
A) I don't know how to do that
B) there are 200,000+ potential wiki users here. About half of them could
all get married, divorced, widowed and remarried,
Best to figure this out before we release this to production,
Is there any possibility this might work with 1.6?

I've enabled HTML code on our office wiki and I was wondering how to
add an RSS feed to it. e.g.: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/
ubbthreads/ContentIslands/2_rss20.xml
Can anyone tell me what code to use or point me in the direction of
some instructions?
Thanks,
Christiaan
Hi Didier,
edit the translation in "laguages/MessagesFr.php".
Then run from command line "php5 maintenance/rebuildMessages.php --update" (or php4 ...) and the languages will be updated into the databse. Backup this files for further installations. And when you post your patch to "bugzilla.wikipia.org" it maybe included in the next release.
Cheers,
Jimmy
