Hi
I am trying to createmultiple user accounts by e-mail. to do this I
log in as admin go into the 'create account or log in page' enter a
new user name enter the e-mail adress and then hit the 'by email'
button. I then hit the back button and enter the next one.
The weird bit is that mostly, but not always, when I do this the first
time I hit the back button I get logged out. If I then log in again
and repeat I can regsiter as many users as I want without the wiki
logging me out again.
I am running the latest release on a windows host.
Any ideas?

This is what's happening in MimeMagic.php:
mime_content_type($file) returns text/plain for wmv files.
If I instead use the following -- it returns 'application/octet-stream'
(still wrong--but it allows the upload)
# in MimeMagic.php
$f = escapeshellarg($file);
$m = trim ('file -bi $f');
How can I get mime_content_type() to return the right type? Somehow I need
to edit magic.mime, I suspect.
Unlike earlier betas of IE 7, the new beta 2 public release seems to choke on
our workaround for displaying transparent logo PNGs in IE 5.5/6.0. You may find
that the logo is missing altogether when visiting a MediaWiki site using
MonoBook skin with IE 7.
The good news is that IE 7 supports alpha-transparent PNGs natively, so the
workaround isn't needed there; a one-line fix to skins/MonoBook.php will disable
the workaround JavaScript for IE 7 and later, letting the logo shine through as
expected.
If there's no other surprises found, I'll make bug fix releases for 1.4.15 and
1.5.7 which include this fix in a day or two.
The fix:

change: <!--[if IE]>
to: <!--[if lt IE 7]>

Hi,
I just installed a new MediaWiki 1.5.6; it is hosted on sourceforge.net
(MySQL 4.1).
It behaves quite strange, i.e. I constantly have to log in (every few
minutes), otherwise it forgets that I'm a WikiSysop.
I couldn't change WikiSysop password, and had to do it from mysql> CLI
(UPDATE user SET user_password...).
But the weirdest thing is, that the WikiSysop is not a WikiSysop!
This means, I can't protect pages, edit special pages (i.e.,
MediaWiki:Sidebar).
When I want to save new MediaWiki:Sidebar layout, I'm constantly warned
that this is a preview only, and that I need to save changes (which I do).
When I want to protect a page, I'm constantly prompted to "Confirm
protection" - as if I was reloading the page.
Preferences say that 'You are logged in as "WikiSysop". Your internal ID
number is 1.'
This is what I see in phpmyadmin in user_groups/ug_group
ug_group
1 bureaucrat
1 sysop
Anyone has an idea what's wrong?

I recently installed mediawiki 1.5.6 on apache 2.0.53 and php 4.3.11 on
Fedora Core 3.
I've been having issues with the Special:Upload page, when attempting to
upload a new version of a file that already exists. It seems that some
data is passed from the file upload the first time it's hit (which saves
the upload to a temp file) to the confirmation page via the $_SESSION
variable.
However, $_SESSION isn't getting set on the confirmation page (or
rather, the page that's invoked when I click the "save anyway" button on
the "do you really want to save over the existing file" page)
It seems that there's a missing call to session_start...
If I edit includes/SpecialUpload.php, class UploadForm, function
UploadForm (constructor) and add "session_start();" prior to first
referencing $_SESSION, then everything works just fine.
Is this really a bug, or do I have something horribly screwed in my
configuration? Looking back at the CVS history, the usage of $_SESSION,
especially isset( $_SESSION['wsUploadData'][$this->mSessionKey] ) dates
back about 14 months, which seems a long time for this to have gone
unnoticed?
Any pointers appreciated. Thanks.
It also has a separate print style sheet so when you print something
normally you won't get the navigation controls.

Hallo,
"How do I require an email address be specified at registration?"
Danke schonmal und viele Grüße aus Köln,
Dennis
