Hello,
We just noticed that any user is logged of automatically after several
seconds. No edits are possible. It's MediaWiki 1.4.12. I have disabled
SpamBlacklist and bad-behaviour extensions just in case, but that
doesn't help.
Is this a know problem? Any clues on how to fix it?
Thanks,
Sarunas Burdulis
I've been finetuning the systemmessages in one wiki, now I want to use them in another wiki which is on a different server. I tried using PHPmyAdmin to copy the table 'text' from one wiki to the other, but that does not seem to work. The 'text'-table is 4.2 Mb big, to big maybe or is this not the right way at all?

Hi there,
Could anyone out here please provide my the syntax used to embed a section of a page in another page. I tried several ways but they all fail. Embedding a page does work: {{:pagename}}.
Thanks.
Best regards,
Marcel

You can only embed whole pages; sections never stand on their own.
If you really need to, of course, you can keep some text on a separate template
page and include it in multiple places.

Hi Brion,
All I wanted to do is aggregate information in different sections ("What's new" sections on different project pages) on another page. But I guess this is not a feature (should I submit it as a request?).
Working with a template seems not the right thing here because it concerns dynamic information (it changes all the time). But I have never done anything with templates before.
So it can be done when I have the "What's new" of the projects on separate pages?
Best regards,
Marcel

Hi,
It has been a month now that I try to upgrade from 1.3 to 1.5 Everything
is OK now, except the captcha system.
The authimage code is pretty simple:
function checkAICode($code)
{
global $sess_key_name;
require_once("extensions/authimage-inc/class.verificator.php");
$veri = new VeriFicator($code);
$verified = $veri->verified();
$return = ($verified == 1) ? 1 : 0;
if(!isset($_SESSION[$sess_key_name])) {
$return = 0;
} else {
unset($_SESSION[$sess_key_name]);
}
return $return;
}
But in EditPage.php, whatever the call to checkAICode doesn't work:
if ( checkAICode($_POST['code']) )
or using the request:
$this->authImageCode = $request->getVal( 'code' ); //importFormData
if ( checkAICode($this->authImageCode) )
Quite a few people have asked me by mail how to do this, which means
that some mediawiki need this to prevent from spamming.
*The code for the highest mediawiki version was developped by miEro
(and works for: MediaWiki: 1.4.5 PHP: 4.3.10-16 (apache2handler) MySQL:
4.1.11-Debian_4sarge2-log)
http://wiki.matfyz.cz/wiki/MediaWiki:Tuning
*I've let my draft of instructions for mediawiki 1.5 at:
http://www.fxparlant.net/Captcha15
*My code for the mediawiki 1.3 can be found at:
http://www.fxparlant.net/Category:Mediawiki#Captcha
(works for: MediaWiki: 1.3.9 PHP: 4.4.0 (cgi) MySQL
(http://www.mysql.com/): 4.0.26)
I hope a mediawiki nerds will tell me/us what has been changed in 1.5
and explain how to make this spam protection work with current and
future versions.
Thanks for your help

Hi,
I'm seeing some weird performance problem with a custom skin. I didn't
write the skin myself, I got it on the Internet and modified it to my
uses.
The performance is ok when using the default monobook skin. My
performance test consist of clicking on the links of the web page
repeatedly. With monobook the web site is pretty responsive, pages
come back under a second.
However with the custom skin, the pages take about 2-3 seconds to
render.
I tried putting Squid in front of it but performance is still poor. I
tried analyzing the logs, and my only clue is that the custom skins
invokes index.php a lot more than monobook. I don't think the
performance lies in the custom skin, however if you need it I'll email
it.
Here are the logs when I click 'Main Page' (my website replaced with
'foo.com')

Sorry! The wiki is experiencing some technical difficulties, and cannot contact
the database server.
I've tried to re-set the password in MySQL to the old 16-bit as suggested by
various website, but it is still proving difficult to resolve. I've also looked
at this website and another person has had a similar problem, but no solution
has been posted.
Please help!

Hello,
I would like to generate a site map for a wiki based on categories and
pages that have been allocated to that category.
The output would be a wiki page that would look something like
Category name 1
article 1
article 2
etc
Category 2
article 1
Alternatively is there a way of getting the output of all the category
pages strung together on a single page?
Thanks for any assistance you can give,
Peter Evans

Hi,
I am currently under a quandary. I have placed templates in categories, however
I wish for the pages to be displayed without the "Template:" prefix.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Paul
Hi everyone,
First, thanks a lot for the help on localization. I get all done!
I get another question though: I've noticed that the links of wikipedia,
wikdicionary, mediawiki, etc. are much friendlier than mine. Is there any
set up I could do in order to get my address friendlier?
For instance you have http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Thomas_Aquinas in the
wikiquote. In my wiki that would look like
http://www.my.website.info/index.php?title=Thomas_Aquinas.
Thanks again,
You guys are very cool, mauro.
