I'll be in Monmouth for the first time on Saturday, and look forward
to meeting those of you who can make it. When and where should I
present myself? Is there a programme for the day?

Hi,
Daria will be setting up the 2 day GLAMwiki conference structure next
week and we will soon be setting up ticketing. Ticket prices are an
area where there is often debate, and it is hard to please everyone.
To give a feel community opinion, I have kicked off a poll at
<http://www.doodle.com/ud2q42vuxqvfnuru> where you can tick any prices
you think are about right.
Please also chip in on this thread if there is any issue you would
like to see covered by ticketing and the discount we offer. For other
comments, such as conference content or timing, please raise your
questions at <http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:GLAM-WIKI_2012>.
PS if you think in Euros or Dollars, just think of a 1:1 exchange
rate, by September who knows what might happen with currencies!
Cheers,
Fae

Dear all,
I am told that after our AGM on 12 May there was an adapter left,
plugged into the wall near the table that was used to count the votes.
The photo is attached. If anyone thinks that he might have left one
behind, please do let me know.
Many thanks,
Daria

Morning everyone,
Over the weekend I had a few interesting discussions about outreach at the
secondary school level; several people asked me to write up me experiences.
Rather than try and recall everyone I chatted with :) I figured the mailing
list might be the easiest way to reach out.

This is an incomplete dump of some of my notes, outreach & thoughts. Your
participation and comments would be very welcome!

Hello everyone,
I hope you're all well.
I thought you might like to know that I've just finished uploading a new
post to our blog. It's about our Monmouthpedia project, was written by
Roger Bamkin (one of our Trustees) and can be seen at
http://blog.wikimedia.org.uk/2012/05/welcome-to-the-worlds-first-wikipedia-…
You may also like to know that the Wikimedia Foundation have covered the
same story on their blog too. It's at

Hello everyone,
This email is a follow-up from a presentation given at our AGM by
Neville Hobson and Philip Sheldrake on Wikipedia and the PR industry. As
you probably know, Steve Virgin has been working behind the scenes to
improve how PRs work with Wikipedia. One of the outcomes is a set of
draft best practice guidelines for PR professionals on how to work with
Wikipedia.
These have been uploaded to the UK wiki for comment from Wikimedians and
the PR industry. It's hoped that through using the wiki to discuss the
guidelines, make changes and have general dialogue, a version will be
ready by mid-June or so which will reflect everyone's viewpoints. Take a
look at the guidelines here -
http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Draft_best_practice_guidelines_for_PR - and
do get involved in the discussion.
Thanks and regards,
Stevie

Dear all,
Here are the results of the resolutions and elections held at the Wikimedia
UK AGM today:
Resolutions
1. Change of name: passed with 2 votes against and 4 abstentions
2. Registration in Scotland: passed with 1 vote against and 5 abstentions
3. Increasing the term of Board members: passed with 46 votes in favour, 10
against and 5 abstentions
4. Membership fees: passed without objection (1 abstention)
5. Appoint Board members: passed without objection (2 abstentions)
6. Approve 2011 accounts: passed without objection (7 abstentions)
7. Approve 2012 accounts: withdrawn
8. Re-appoint auditors: passed without objection (6 abstentions)
Please note that for all resolutions except number 3, the actual tally of
votes in favour was not kept as the show of hands and number of proxy votes
given to the Tellers was sufficient to show an overwhelming majority in
favour.
Election of Board members
The number of votes given for each candidate was as follows:
Christopher Keating 52
Michael Peel 50
Ashley Van Haeften 49
Joscelyn Upendran 48
John Byrne 46
Roger Bamkin 46
Doug Taylor 40
Steve Virgin 38
Saad Choudri 34
Roshana Gammampila 27
Katie Chan 26
Alison Fayers-Kerr 11
Christopher Allen 10
Thomas Nichols 6
Gary Hayes 2
Junior Campbell 1
The total number of votes cast was 61, and therefore candidates required a
minimum of 31 votes to be eligible for election.
Therefore Christopher Keating, Michael Peel, Ashley Van Haeften, Joscelyn
Upendran,John Byrne, Roger Bamkin and Doug Taylor have been duly elected to
serve as Directors of Wikimedia UK.

For and on behalf of the Tellers
I am keen to gather together in one place in the UK Wiki examples of
agreements Wikimedia UK has made with outside organisations, Memoranda of
Understanding, Wikipedians in Residence, Conference agreements, etc.
The aim would be to share good practice and at a time when we are
increasingly entering into such agreements avoid re-inventing wheels.
Can you help?
Examples of ones from other organisations might be useful too.

As some of the members of this list will be aware, there was a meeting yesterday morning of parties interested in a UK bid for Wikimania 2012. The minutes of the meeting are available at http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2014/Planning_meeting_1/Notes for those who are interested.
As a result of the meeting, the decision was taken that a bid will be submitted for London, and the organising committee for this bid was formed (http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2014/Planning_meeting_1/Notes#Organi…).
The next meeting of the committee will be held at 11:00 on Sunday, 10 June 2012. See http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2014/Planning_meeting_2 for details.
Anybody interested in joining the organising committee who couldn't make it to yesterday's meeting, please contact me directly.

All,
I want to apologise for the tardiness in getting individual emails out to
members about the results of the AGM. This is because our database is
hosted on a virtual server shared with several other sites: at present, the
load on the server is very high because of what the other sites are doing.
Consequently, my access to the membership database is limited.
We'll be moving to a dedicated server soon, however, which should solve the
problem.
