Hello,
I noticed there's no London/UK bid currently on Meta - any reason
for this? The page states "Unofficial bids may be started as early as
you like". Surely if we want to be in with a damn good chance we need
to at least start the page now? I think I remember some discussion
about not being able to book a venue (specifically universities) more
than 12 months in advance, but still? Just wondering what people
think.

Right. Thanks Gordon. Not Boston, not Frankfurt - and not Taipei.
In conclusion...do people not think the page should be started, or at
least "London" added to the Unofficial bids list? It looks odd, as we
were down to the final three for '07? I think someone officially from
Wikimedia UK should maybe add it <cough> David, Alison </cough>.

"Very unfair accusations", Angela?
Are you referring to a precise person or what?
It should be "fair" to be more clear.

I know about them but they are working on current maps and for the
foreseeable future will not be able to match OS in terms of quality. I
think they looked into useing old maps for some reason or another they
abandoned that rout.

Ok finaly got around to contacting my central county archives. they
have large numbers of 6 inch to the mile and 25 inbch to the mile maps
and a few 1 inch to the mile maps. They will provide electronic
versions for a fee however they are playing silly buggers with
copyright (although I may be able to get around that) . I will know
more once I've sent some stuff in writeing to them.
