Hi all
If you've got any news/activities from the last three months (May, June,
July) to celebrate, please send them my way for the newsletter.
It will go out in the second half of August, so if there’s any
events/projects taking place after that for which you’d like to generate
sign-up/interest now’s the time to let me know. Proper deadline is the 15th
Aug.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks
Katie

Dear all
On 16th September, Wikimedia UK will be hosting an informal meetup with
Maryana Iskander, Chief Executive of the Wikimedia Foundation, and a number
of other Wikimedia Foundation staff (primarily those who are based in the
UK). Some Wikimedia UK staff and trustees will also be there.
The meetup will be *2 - 3.30pm on Friday 16th September* in London. I will
confirm the venue nearer the time but wanted to share the date and time
with you ASAP. I appreciate this isn't the ideal time for volunteers, as
it's during the working week, but I very much hope that some of you are
able to attend. Again, I will try and get a sense of numbers nearer the
time but for now please put the date in your diary if you think you can
make it.
Best wishes

HI, last Sunday was my first London meetup for a while, and it was good to
see so many people, including several I'd not had a chance to speak to
since before lockdown. Next month the second Sunday is on the 14th, and
unless there is a dramatic resurgence of COVID, we'll be at the Oak again.
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meetup/London/183
There's also a virtual UK meetup on the 28th July, and as this format works
for people who can't get to London or other meetups I suspect these monthly
meetings will continue post Covid.

Dear all
Many thanks to those of you who attended our virtual AGM on Saturday. I'm
pleased to confirm that all three candidates who stood for
election received support from the majority of voting members, and will be
joining the Board of Trustees for Wikimedia UK. These are:
Adrian Beidas (currently member of the Audit and Risk Committee)
Sangeet Bhullar (Trustee since 2019)
Vivian Wineman
All the ordinary resolutions proposed by the board were supported. There
were no special resolutions.
Four new Honorary Memberships were awarded to the following recipients, for
their significant contribution to the work of the charity:
Josie Fraser
Melissa Highton
Magnus Manske
Nick Poole
We will be seeking nominations for UK Wikimedians of the Year later this
month, which will be presented during our Wikimania events in London
(taking place Friday 12th and Saturday 13th August at Newspeak House).
With best wishes
Lucy
