The MediaWiki developers have been working hard to integrate certain elements of the Wikipedia Education Program into MediaWiki. If anyone is interested in helping beta-test the new extension, click (or copy and paste) the link below to get started:

Please note that this site does not will not represent official Wikipedia Education Program data. Feel free to alter the data on the wiki however you wish; the more testing you do, the better!

Thanks for the link, srik.lak! But from reading that post, certain alarming questions arise.
What exactly is Wikipedia Education Programs? How does it work? Does it provide a private workspace to EP participants in Wikipedia completely invisible to other editors? Why are sock-puppets encouraged? What elevated permissions are being provided to EP members? Will the community be able to transparently oversee content introductions by Education Programs?
Warm regards,

What exactly is Wikipedia Education Programs?
Its an extension designed to manage *EPs. Read more here[1]
How does it work? Does it provide a private workspace to EP participants in Wikipedia completely invisible to other editors?
If am not wrong it provides set of dashboards / special pages for people(instructors,OA,CA,staff) to oversee edits by students enrolled in the program in a much easier way. I dont think there will be any data that will be closed / completely invisible to others. I am not sure if profiles would be closed / kept open.
Why are sock-puppets encouraged?
That link was a test wiki for people who are interested in EP to test the software that's developed. Since you cant conduct a Ashwin-EP for the sake of testing, you are encouraged to sock on that wiki creating different accounts(of varied roles) and to test if you could utilize the special pages and make use of the features and it isn't buggy.
What elevated permissions are being provided to EP members?
Specific permissions only for EP. Otherwise they are too have same rights as any other new wiki user. A more detailed note on roles is available on the page linked.
Will the community be able to transparently oversee content introductions by Education Programs?
Yes, the extension will only make it even more easier for those interested to oversee at a greater level of detail.
