Hi,
Tamil Wiktionarians added 70,000+ English words recently to make it the 9th biggest Wiktionary globally. Now, we have 1,90,000+ words.
This addition was done by a community run auto Wiki Browser bot account after a 3 month long careful planning and redesign of page format for Tamil Wiktionary.
The words are mainly technical in nature and donated in an excel sheet format by the State Government of Tamilnadu during Tamil Internet Conference, 2010.
We hope to bring more such publicly available sources to Tamil Wiki projects in future.
Regards,
Ravi

Congratulations, Ravi and all other Tamil Wiktionarians, that is quite an achievement.
Looking forward to seeing Tamil Wiktionary grow larger.

Hoi, The Dutch Wikipedia is currently the number 10 in traffic. With only som 20 million people speaking the language there is plenty of scope for Indian languages to do better. Wishing them to do better makes no difference.
So here are a few things that will make a difference:
- Make sure that the Indian chapter has money to spend. Make sure that Jimmy's message is localised and that the messages at translatewiki.netthat deal with the donations are localised (Hindi is at 0% Malayalam at 100%) - Make sure that the localisation for your language is complete and up to date. This represents a vast improvement in usability - Make sure that the public finds the articles they are looking for.\ - Learn why the Indonesian Wikipedia has a much easier ride.. Fix the language technology issues. - Have a plan on how your community will prioritise the things that need doing - Be happy with any and all improvements and let it be known.. A positive happy atmosphere in itself makes it easier to have fun while realising objectives (ie doing the work)
Having money helps, making sure that the Fundraiser does an optimal job needs to be done now. It also shows the WMF organisation that "you" are to be taken seriously. Thanks, GerardM
The "Donate Interfacehttp://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:Translate&group=ext-di-di" and the "Payflow Pro Gatewayhttp://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:Translate&group=ext-di-pfpg" extensions may be looking for your localisations..

Yes you are correct.
Indonesian language use Latin script. That is why it has a much easier ride. As you have rightly pointed out there are many technology issues that needs to be fixed for most of the Indian languages. But many of us still do not understand the importance of these.
