"Over 100 protesters were present on the opening day of the first Wiki Conference India http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Conference_India"?
If this is indeed true, this was the most unfortunate morcha I've (barely) seen.
The number (and the total inconsistency with how many people actually protested) comes from here:
http://www.indianexpress.com/news/protest-against-wrong-map-mars-countrys-fi...
in which it simultaneously describes "hundreds of protesters" *and* that "all 21 who protested were arrested".
Go figure.
The article that's been created out of the controversy is a storm in a teacup (and as such is hardly notable) but the storm was so small it was barely noticeable - and would have stayed that way except for the misreporting of it.

I must say I was slightly disappointed at the size of the protest. We heard the protest begin, we went around asking all attendees standing outside to enter the convocation hall; by the time we reached the gate from the lawns, the protesters had already been swept into a police van and were about to leave.
To be fair, they were far outnumbered by the police.
Pradeep told me that there were hardly two dozen. But, I believe that article shall die soon.
Also, the map in question, was made by Nicholas right? So why are they after Arjuna and the Chapter?

Gautam, yes, good question. They just spoke about the map with disputed regions from what I know. So, that only means maps depicting Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh no? --Re

Was surprised to see a separate article on the protests and not as part of the event article - a good merge candidate IMHO

:)
Though in fact we have definitive news sources indicating that only 21 people showed up. (As well as photographic and video evidence from news media who were there).
And you're right, it really should be merged with the WikiConference article - I'm not sure if the suggestion has been made on the deletion discussion yet.
