Hi folks,
Sue forwarded me this thread.
The best way to get people like that taken care of is through the email response team - there's a group of really wonderful volunteers who would love to help out in cases like that.
You can have the person write to info-en-q@wikimedia.org (that's info, english, quality) and the email response team will take it from there.
If there's one that's particularly bad, you might want to send it my way and I'll try to find just the right volunteer for them, but on the whole, the email response team is AMAZING.
info-en-q@wikimedia.org.
:)

Forwarded conversation Subject: [Wikimediaindia-l] People of stature unhappy with own articles ------------------------
From: ** wheredevelsdare@hotmail.com Date: 27 November 2011 22:00 To: Wikipedia India Mailing List wikimediaindia-l@lists.wikimedia.org
Hiya,
Me and a couple of others have been contacted by a couple of people of stature having Wikipedia articles about themselves recently about the articles having derogatory and inaccurate information about them. Is there any procedure set which such people can follow to have an admin look into their page?
Kind Regards,

Yes there is. direct them to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:AUTOPROB#Problems_in_an_article_about...
But they shouldn't be expecting wikipedia to do a whitewashing / PR fluff job on it. Sometimes, if they are actually trying to remove negative material about them (and there is a ton of it in RS) it leads to a backlash and more gets added to the article. WhereDevilsDare, As Bala pointed out, pages have to be neutral. Example:Look at any Politician's page, it's always Pro-them, rarely is it balanced. We need to have things neutral. If these guys get to decide what goes on their page, it'll be a Conflict of Interest. Even a simple controversy against a person, if added, shouldn't be removed. Regards,
