Hello all,
It gives me immense pleasure to inform you all that three members of Wiki Loves Butterfly https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Loves_Butterfly(WLB) team â Sourabh Biswas https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Sourabh.biswas003, Atanu Bose https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Atanu_Bose_Photography and Rajib Dey https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Butterflyrajib, captured photographs of a live gynandromorph of *Athyma inara inara https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q33060639* (Westwood, 1850) â Himalayan Colour Sergeant in Buxa Tiger Reserve https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buxa_Tiger_Reserve, West Bengal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Bengal in the month of November 2021. A gynandromorph (synonymous with a sexual mosaic) is an organism that contains both male and female characteristics. This is an extraordinarily rare event that occurs in nature.
This is the biggest achievement of this project so far to witness a live gynandromorph https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gynandromorphism for the first time in India. I congratulate all team members for being witness to such a rare and unique natural phenomenon.
