Hello all!
Hope this email finds you well. We are sending this message to select
community mailing lists and all previous recipients of a Wikimedia
Foundation Rapid Grant.
We have an announcement regarding the closure of the Rapid Grants [1]
program between May 14 - June 30, 2018. This year we've received a lot of
interest in the program and this quarter we've almost doubled the amount of
grants offered to the community compared to last year's quarter. You can
look at our spending analysis
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Resources/Grants_spending_analysis>
[2] for
reference. Unfortunately, this means we've expended our funds for this
fiscal year. The last date we will be receiving an application for a rapid
grant before the closure will be *Friday, May 11, 2018*.
We encourage *Wiki Loves Earth* participants to apply for a Rapid Grant by
May 11, 2018 to receive support for their project.
The grant program will be open again to receive grant requests starting *July
1, 2018*. At this point we will be implementing the following changes:
1. There will be a minimum of *$500 USD* for grant requests
2. Applications will only be accepted between the *1st - 15th of each month*.
This is to help with our current workflow and to allow us to be more
responsive to your requests.
If you have any questions, please email us at rapidgrants(a)wikimedia.org.
Best regards,
Woubzena

Hi,
Based on feedback from community members, we are adding more topics for the
contest.
Besides topics that were already provided based on readership of English
Wikipedia, now you can also write articles based on following lists:
* List of 10,000 articles every Wikipedia should have
* List of articles every Indian language Wikipedia should have
* Up to 500 topics based on specific locally relevant themes as determined
by the local community organizers following local community discussion.
Please check the list of topics for your language
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Supporting_Indian_Language_Wikipedias_Progr…>
and contact your local organizer for more clarification.
Thanks,
Ravi
Greetings,
Thanks to Sailesh Pattnaik for the previous message about the second
iteration of #1Lib1Ref this year. I would like to add something to that.
It is an annual campaign where librarians add references to improve
Wikipedia, is coming back again this year, running from May 15th to June
5th, 2018. It is being run for the second time from this year because we
heard from you a desire to run it again out of excitement. Librarians,
community members, and affiliates are encouraged to make 1Lib1Ref [their
own]. So whether we call this 1Lib1Ref May, 1Lib1Ref for the Southern
Hemisphere, or 1Lib1Ref Strikes Back, the point is the excitement is
building again, and we'd like you to be a part of it.
If you would like host a session at a local library, here are some
materials for you:
1.) Helpful multimedia (logos, videos, flyers, stickers)
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:1lib1ref>
2.) Connect with local librarians
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Connect>
3.) Lets take a Coffee Break and contribute to #1lib1ref. Here's how!
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Coffee_Kit>
4.) Read the 1Lib1Ref 2018 January report and learnings
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Lessons/2018>
.
"Imagine a World where Every Librarian Added One More Reference to
Wikipedia" Wikipedia is a first stop for researchers. Let's make it better!
Your goal today is to add one reference to Wikipedia! Any citation to a
reliable source is a benefit to Wikipedia readers worldwide.
For any assistance, kindly contact wikipedialibrary(a)wikimedia.org.

Subject: [Wikimedia-l] 1Lib1Ref is happening again in May!
To: <wikimedia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
*Hello 1Lib1Ref Organizers,#1Lib1Ref, the annual campaign where librarians
add references to improve Wikipedia, is coming back again this year,
running from May 15th to June 5th, 2018. Why twice? We heard from you a
desire to run it again out of excitement, because May is not summer
vacation for the southern hemisphere, and because Spanish Wikipedia's
birthday also falls in May. This is a great expansion of the event and it
means that there is another opportunity to make Wikipedia more factual and
verifiable by leveraging the expertise of librarians around the world. How
does this relate to the main campaign in January? We encourage librarians,
community members, and affiliates to make 1Lib1Ref their own. So whether
we call this 1Lib1Ref May, 1Lib1Ref for the Southern Hemisphere, or
1Lib1Ref Strikes Back, the point is the excitement is building again, and
we'd like you to be a part of it.If I participated in January, do I have to
do it again in May? It's entirely up to you, this is just another chance
if you want to do more, or if you couldn't get around to January
activities. This is a pilot for us, too, so we'll see how it goes and
discuss what we learned after the May campaign.How can you get involved? -
