വിക്കിപീഡിയ വനിതാ തിരുത്തല്‍ യജ്ഞം - വിക്കിപഠനശിബിരം എറണാകുളം നരേഷ്പാല്‍ സെന്ററില്‍വച്ചു് നടന്നു. ഫ്രീസോഫ്റ്റ്‌വെയര്‍ മൂവു്മെന്റ്സ് ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ പ്രസിഡന്റ് ജോസഫ് തോമസ് പഠനശിബിരം ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. സ്വതന്ത്ര സര്‍വ്വ വിജ്ഞാനകോശം പൊതുഉടമസ്ഥതയില്‍ നിലനിര്‍ത്തിക്കൊണ്ട്, ലോകത്തുള്ള സമസ്ത അറിവും എല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും ഒരേപോലെ കിട്ടണം എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യം മുന്‍നിര്‍ത്തി, പൊതു സമൂഹത്തില്‍ സ്വതന്ത്രമായ അറിവിന്റെ രൂപീകരണത്തിനായി വിക്കിപീഡിയ സംരംഭം നടത്തിവരുന്ന പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളുടെ കാലിക പ്രസക്തിയെക്കുറിച്ചും ആവശ്യകതയെക്കുറിച്ചും അദ്ദേഹം സംസാരിച്ചു. മലയാളം വിക്കിപീഡിയയിലെ സജീവ ഉപയോക്താവായ ഡിറ്റിമാത്യു വിക്കിപീഡിയയുടെ ഉപയോഗവും തത്സ്ഥിതിയെക്കുറിച്ചും ക്ലാസ്സ് എടുത്തു. അഡ്വക്കറ്റ് ടി.കെ. സുജിതു് വിക്കിപീഡിയയുടെ നയങ്ങളും മാനദണ്ഡങ്ങളും പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തി. വിക്കിമീഡിയ കോമണ്‍സിലേക്ക് ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ ചേര്‍ക്കുന്നവിധവും വിക്കിഗ്രന്ഥശാലയിലെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളും ശിവഹരി നന്ദകുമാര്‍ പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തി. കേരള ചരിത്രത്തിലെ ശ്രദ്ധേയരായ അഞ്ച് വനിതകളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വിവരങ്ങള്‍ വിക്കിപീഡിയയില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തിക്കൊണ്ട് ശിബിരത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടത്തുവര്‍ പ്രായോഗികപരിശീലനം നേടി. വിക്കിപീഡിയയില്‍ വനിതകളുടെ പങ്കാളിത്തം വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കാനും വനിതാ ജീവചരിത്രസംബന്ധമായും വിനിതാ വിമോചന പോരാട്ടസംബന്ധമായും വിക്കിപ്പീഡിയയില്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ ലേഖനങ്ങള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്താനും ശിബിരം തീരുമാനിച്ചു. അശോകന്‍ ഞാറയ്ക്കല്‍ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷതവഹിച്ചു. കെ.വി. അനില്‍കുമാര്‍, പ്രശോഭ് ജി . ശ്രീദ്ധര്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവര്‍ നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കി. മലയാളം വിക്കിപീഡിയ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരും പുതിയ എട്ടോളം വനിതാ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരടക്കം മുപ്പതോളംപേര്‍‍ പരിപാടിയില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു. -- with warm regards Sivahari Nandakumar Appropriate Technology Promotion Society Eroor, Vyttila 09446582917 http://sivaharicec.blogspot.com -------------------------------------------------------- fighting for knowledge freedom

ഗൂഗിള്‍ പ്ലേ സ്റ്റോറില്‍ മലയാളം പുസ്തകങ്ങളെത്തിത്തുടങ്ങിയിട്ടുണ്ടു്. ഗുണ്ടര്‍ട്ടിന്റെ മലയാളം - ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് നിഘണ്ടുവിന്റെയും<https://play.google.com/store/books/details/Hermann_Gundert_A_Malayalam_and…..> ഒരു സ്കൂള്‍ ഡിക്ഷ്ണറിയുടേയും<https://play.google.com/store/books/details/School_dictionary_School_dictio…> സ്കാന്‍ ചെയ്ത പതിപ്പുകളാണു് ഇപ്പോള്‍ ലഭ്യമായിട്ടുള്ളതു്. ഇന്‍സ്റ്റാള്‍ ചെയ്തു് എസ്.ഡി. കാര്‍ഡില്‍ നിന്ന് ഊറ്റാന്‍ നോക്കിയിട്ട് ഫയല്‍ തരം വായിക്കാന്‍ പറ്റുന്നില്ല. മറ്റെന്തെങ്കിലും തരത്തില്‍ ഇത് എടുക്കാന്‍ കഴിയുമെങ്കില്‍ വിക്കിഗ്രന്ഥശാലയില്‍ചേര്‍ക്കാമായിരുന്നു. സ്കാന്‍ ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവര്‍ത്തിയെങ്കിലും ലാഭിക്കാം (ഒരു കൈ നനയാതെ മീന്‍പിടിക്കല്‍ :) ) സസ്നേഹം, ~ അഖിലൻ

ഓൺലൈനിൽ വരുന്ന വാർത്തകൾ നമ്മൾ അവലംബങ്ങളായി സ്വീകരിക്കാറുണ്ടല്ലോ. അതുപോലെ പഴയവാർത്തകൾ (ഓൺലൈനിൽ ഇല്ലാത്തത്) അവലംബങ്ങളായി കൊടുക്കുന്നതിൽ എന്തെങ്കിലും പ്രശ്നമുണ്ടോ. ഉദാഹരണത്തിന് ഗുരുവായൂർ സത്യാഗ്രഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുളള ഒരു ലേഖനത്തിനായി അന്നത്തെ മാതൃഭൂമിയിൽ വന്ന ലേഖനം അവലംബമായി കൊടുക്കാമോ ? ഈ അവലംബം ഓൺലൈനിൽ ലഭ്യമല്ല, പക്ഷേ മാതൃഭൂമിയുടെ ആർക്കൈവിൽ ഉണ്ട്. -- *Regards..* *Bipin.*

Dear all, Here is the A2K newsletter for the month of February, 2013. Wikimedia Foundation, beginning from September 1, 2012, awarded the Centre for Internet & Society (CIS) a two-year grant of INR 26,000,000 to support and develop free knowledge in India. Consequently, Wikimedia Foundation's India Program became the Access to Knowledge (A2K) program [1] of CIS. In the second issue of our newsletter for 2013, we are glad to introduce you to our new programme officer, Dr. U.B. Pavanaja [2]. The A2K team [3] consists of four members based in Delhi: T. Vishnu Vardhan [4], Nitika Tandon [5], Subhashish Panigrahi [6] and Noopur Raval [7], and one new team member Dr. U.B. Pavanaja [8] who works from Bangalore office. Pavanaja [11] joined the A2K team as Programme Officer, India Language Initiatives on March 4, 2013. Dr. Pavanaja holds a Master's degree from Mysore University and Ph.D. from Mumbai University. He was a scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, for about 15 years. He is one of the oldest editors of Kannada Wikipedia. He has to his credit many firsts, viz., first Kannada website, first Kannada online magazine, first Indian language (Kannada) website to receive Golden Web Award, first Indian language (Kannada) editor for Palm OS, first Indian language (Kannada) editor for WinCE device (HP Jornado 720), first Indian language version (Kannada) of universally popular Logo (programming language for children) software, etc. His Kannada logo won the Manthan Award for the year 2006. He was a member of the technical advisory committee setup by the Govt. of Karnataka for Standardization of Kannada on Computers (2000). മലയാളം വിക്കിപീഡിയയ്ക്ക് ഒരു നേട്ടം കൂടി

നമസ്കാരം, ഈ പേജ് കാണുക. എല്ലാ ഭാഷയിലും വേണ്ട ലേഖനങ്ങളുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലുള്ള റാങ്കിങ്ങിൽ മലയാളം വിക്കിപീഡിയയ്ക്ക് തുടർച്ചയായ രണ്ടാം തവണയും നേട്ടം. :) കഴിഞ്ഞ മാസം Honourable mention ആണ് ലഭിച്ചതെങ്കിൽ ഇത്തവണ വളർച്ചയിൽ രണ്ടാം സ്ഥാനമാണ് നമുക്ക്. പട്ടികയിൽ മലയാളത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം 39-ൽ തന്നെ നിൽക്കുന്നു. മലയാളത്തിൽ താളുകളുള്ള അഞ്ച് ലേഖനങ്ങൾ തെറ്റായി താളില്ല എന്നാണ് പട്ടികയിൽ കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. എന്നാലും സ്റ്റബുകൾ 744-ൽ നിന്ന് 714 ആയി കുറയുകയും ഇടത്തരം താളുകൾ 178-ൽ നിന്ന് 195 ആയി വർദ്ധിക്കുകയും വലിയ താളുകൾ 81-ൽ നിന്ന് രണ്ടെണ്ണം കൂടി 83 ആകുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. 0.89% ആണ് നമ്മുടെ വളർച്ച. ഇതിനായി യത്നിച്ച എല്ലാവർക്കും അഭിനന്ദനങ്ങൾ. അജയ് ബാലചന്ദ്രൻ

[A2K]: Introducing Dr. U.B Pavanaja, Consultant - Indian languages

Dear all, I take immense pleasure in (re)introducing Dr. U.B Pavanaja to the entire Wikimedia community! Dr. Pavanaja has joined the Access to Knowledge team at CIS as a consultant from March 4 onward. Those associated with Indian language computing and especially that in Kannada may know him already for having started the first Kannada website: Vishvakannada.com, the first Kannada online magazine, the first Indian language (Kannada) website to receive Golden Web Award, the first Indian language (Kannada) editor for Palm OS and many more firsts. Dr. Pavanaja holds a Master's degree from Mysore University and Ph.D. from Mumbai University. He was a scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, for about 15 years and has done advanced research in Taiwan. He resigned from BARC in 1997 and dedicated himself fully for the cause of Computer and Indian languages. You could read more about his contributions here [1].
