I've raised a question on Commons, about performers; ruiights in reoding of church bells:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump#Church_bells
I'm no expert, but AIUI, the UK style of bell ringing is different from that elsewhere in the world. I hope our ability to upload recordings of church bells will not be encumbered by the need to get clearance from each bell ringer.
Can anyone comment, with any authority, on such matters?
I'm clearly no expert on copyright but I wonder if the rights issue would be the same as an orchestra. Would you need to get approval from each musician in an orchestra to use a recording of their performance?

Amateur orchestras, in particular (unless there are professional church bell ringers?).

In some ways professionals are easier because they will have thought about IP issues and have a contract which means you negotiate with their manager rather than them individually. But on the downside they usually expect to be paid.
I know that some bell ringers do get appearance fees, I used to have a mate who did it as a side line.
There is also the issue of the composers rights, though of course some bell ringing will involve tunes that are long out of copyright.
