Dear all
I just wanted to let you know that there are still places available at our Annual General Meeting this Saturday 13th July, which is taking place in the beautiful setting of the Watershed in Bristol. If you would like to come, please register on our eventbrite page https://wikimedia.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=737d5ee4324510c66dbee3b7e&id=25610a7060&e=ab3b2b8a4c .
Whilst the day is primarily for members, you don't have to be a member to attend and the morning's activities will hopefully be of interest to many of you. We are looking forward to hearing from Brandi Geurkink, European Campaigner at Mozilla Foundation, about her work to combat disinformation online. After that, there is going to be a facilitated discussion on 'culture and conflict on Wikipedia'. Alternatively, John Lubbock will be leading a photography tour of Bristol, so please bring cameras with you if that's more your thing. There will be a range of lightning talks from members, and we will be announcing the UK Wikimedian of the Year and Partnership of the Year Awards, as well as our inaugural Honorary Memberships.
This year we have eight candidates https://wikimedia.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=737d5ee4324510c66dbee3b7e&id=dc77e5a7c7&e=ab3b2b8a4c standing for five places on Wikimedia UK’s Board of Trustees, so every vote counts. If you are a member and can’t attend the AGM in person, please do email (or send us) your proxy vote. Details for how to do so are in last Thursday’s email to members and in the voting packs sent by post last week.
Best wishes
Lucy
Could someone confirm if there is going to be any member voting on anything this year?
As a member I was expecting there to be some information about proxy voting, presumably the board does not expect everyone to travel to Bristol to use their vote. So far, there has been no information sent out.
Thanks, Fae
Hi Fae
Your membership expired before we gave the formal notice for the AGM, so I'm afraid you're not eligible to vote in this AGM as the deadline for renewal was 1st July. An email was sent to all 'in grace' members as part of their voting pack for the last AGM on 5th July 2018, including the line "I also noticed *your membership is due for renewal*. In order to vote and remain an active member for the upcoming year, please update your membership here https://donate.wikimedia.org.uk/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=4". I can see from the report that you received it to another of your email addresses.
I emailed all current members about the 2019 AGM on 24th May, and Lucy followed up with a message to this mailing list containing similar information. The email from Lucy included the line "if you believe that you are a member but did not receive a message this morning, please email membership@wikimedia.org.uk". Lucy emailed this mailing list on Monday and said that voting packs had been distributed to members by post last week. We also posted about the deadline of 1st July for membership renewals through our social media channels.
Do let me know if you have any queries.
With kind regards
Katie Crampton Membership, Fundraising and Operations Assistant
