When is the next UK wikimeet?

Thanks Gordon,
It occurs to me that we need to have an AGM at some stage, in which we will have to elect a (non-temporary) board of directors (same-as-now if desired). When will this be? Is there a need for anything in place before this happens?
This reminds me of another question I had: what's the current update on our bid for charity status? Has this happened? What can a volunteer do, if it hasn't?
Another occurrence: Wikimania is coming up next month. Some of us will be there (myself included) and I know that some committees/chapters will be using that opportunity to hold non-online meetings about their business. It would definitely be an idea to mull over such things informally, possibly even start organising things like projects.. So, who amongst us will be at Wikimania?
And on projects: are there any initiatives that anyone wants to get going, or would like to see going? Meta pages have hit a stagnancy, sadly - this one could do with one of its regular revivals: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Possible_projects_of_Wikimedia_UK. Any other ideas floating around? Want to bring them down to earth?
Looking forward to replies..

As far as I'm aware there is no wikimeet scheduled. There probably should be and if your diary for the summer looks anything like mine it's not going to be easy to find a suitable date.
The general plan is to organise a meet once we are in a position to admit members, not least because it will be easier to do this face to face then via a series of emails, paper forms and other bureaucracy zipping about the country. It's worth remembering that WER does not exist to organise wikimeets. However, I would not object to temporarily removing my directors hat to assist in organising one, as long as people do not object to me regaining my headgear and attempting to find members and voluntaries willing to help with some of the projects once they arrive at the meet.

IIRC, the first AGM has to be within 18 months of the date of incorporation, and AGM's then follow each calender year and within 14 months. Clearly we are going to need members before we have an AGM and I think we would also like some successes to report. As far as membership goes, I circulated a plan to the other directors a couple of weeks ago - I'm still waiting to find out they think it's workable.
This reminds me of another question I had: what's the current update on our bid for charity status? Has this happened? What can a volunteer do, if it hasn't?
Last I knew James had almost finished the form.

I'll not be there - but it would be good if some project organisation could be done.

It may be worth building something around the 2012 Olympics. I'm not sure what though - get local schools to run pupil projects on each sport maybe?
Cheers,

Morwen just moved to London. She and I went to the pub on Sunday and Tony Sidaway would have been there if he could have, and I bet the conversation would have been all Wikipedia. Perhaps we just need to say "this pub, this time" :-)

I won't be coming to Wikimania but certainly hope to come to the next Wikimeet. I am unavailable from the 5th of August for about two weeks if that helps.

At the moment, many of us in the East End are "fighting" some of the plans for London 2012 in the way it will impact the lives of people in the area. I have met one person whose block of flats will be demolished to build the Olympic Village.
****
I have started teaching a four week course, introducing Mediawiki and wiki concepts to my "local history" group. The project is supported by my local housing association.
We have scheduled 4 sessions of 2 hours, spread over four evenings in July.
It is based on:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tutorial
and the demands of the participants.
I have added on some emphasis on creative archives, of images and sounds, and some "blogging" of progress of this and other projects. They have just finished a DVD project with two students from Goldsmiths, University of London (Media and Communications Department).
The group has good computer skills, and two of them have used Twiki in the past.
One interesting development is that they seem to claim ownership of their work. The concept of "collaborative writing" may yet need re-enforcement. Maybe I may be reading this wrong. We shall see...
I will write my experience up at the end of the four weeks, for my own record.

I, for one.
As to the other items, another time - forgive me.

I unfortunately wont be a Wikimania, so that rules me out of any meetings there.
This side of the atlantic, I can make the weekends of the 12th and 19th August and 9th September for a physical meeting in London - a meet closer to home and I might be able to make more. After that I have nothing in my diary until October. I /might/ be able to make a weekday evening, but I can't take any time off work (which is why I'm not going to be at Wikimania).

Nope, for the same reasons I can't get to Wikimania - lack of funds and lack of time off work. Our team is already very understaffed and one of my colleagues is going on maternity leave in just over 2 weeks with nobody new comming in to cover her. The only reason I'm able to get next week off (going to Jersey) is becase I booked it in January.

As James has pointed out, this is due next year. We are still 'in progress' of some of the formalities but will make proper announcements once we have something proper to announce!
Another occurrence: Wikimania is coming up next month.
At one point I hopedI might be able to make it over there, but in the end I can't be there in person. I understand that most of it will be streamed and interactive to some extent http://wikimania2006.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_online and I anticipate being 'present' throughout (or at least as much as possible)
