And on projects: are there any initiatives that
anyone wants to get
going, or would like to see going? Meta pages have hit a stagnancy,
sadly - this one could do with one of its regular revivals:
Any other ideas floating around? Want to bring them down to earth?
It may be worth building something around the 2012 Olympics. I'm not
sure what though - get local schools to run pupil projects on each
sport maybe?
Cheers,
Andrew

At the moment, many of us in the East End are "fighting" some of the
plans for London 2012 in the way it will impact the lives of people
in the area. I have met one person whose block of flats will be
demolished to build the Olympic Village.

I have started teaching a four week course, introducing Mediawiki and
wiki concepts to my "local history" group. The project is supported
by my local housing association.
We have scheduled 4 sessions of 2 hours, spread over four evenings in July.
It is based on:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tutorial
and the demands of the participants.
I have added on some emphasis on creative archives, of images and
sounds, and some "blogging" of progress of this and other projects.
They have just finished a DVD project with two students from
Goldsmiths, University of London (Media and Communications
Department).
The group has good computer skills, and two of them have used Twiki
in the past.
One interesting development is that they seem to claim ownership of
their work. The concept of "collaborative writing" may yet need
re-enforcement. Maybe I may be reading this wrong. We shall see...
I will write my experience up at the end of the four weeks, for my own record.
