Hi Katie,
I asked this a while ago and your answer was essentially "we're working on it", but I don't think I'm the only one wondering, so I'll ask on this list.
What do UK (in particular non-London) residents who want financial support to attend do? Is there going to be a separate process or do we need to apply for a scholarship through the WMF (which would be a bit silly imho)?
I'm sure it would be useful to know before the scholarships deadline.
Thanks, Harry Mitchell

Hi Harry,
I can confirm Wikimedia UK will run a separate process closer to Wikimania. Any one from the UK who has already made an application through the Wikimedia Foundation scholarship process and has agreed to "share [their] information with chapters and thematic organizations for purpose of selecting and awarding scholarships" will *not* need to make another application. Anyone else can wait until Wikimedia UK own application are open.

My assumption would be that those not presenting but actively/officially involved in some way or other (helping with workshops, available on the reception desk, acting as guides for local social outings, taking video of presentations...) would be able to claim back train fares and possibly accommodation. So those that would like some financial support to attend can offer to help with this sort of event coordination as I'm sure there are plenty of UK based helpers needed.
Am I close to the mark?

Any news, yet, about when this will open?
