See this old version of the page for details of the playhouse's charges: http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikimania_2010/Bids/UK/Oxford&am... (base rate of £2200 a day).
I also got a quote from the Sheldonian last year and they said: "I do not know the exact rate for 2009 - the rate now is £260 for the first hour and £170 for subsequent hours. This rate increases by around 3% in September."
So not too expensive I guess. But it's not exactly comfortable...

What technical facilities do these venues offer? WiFi? Projection? PA System? As a techie, I tend to worry about these things ;)
Exam schools is very well equipped. Details here: http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/schools/conference/moreinf/tariff.shtml
The Sheldonian rather less so. But I imagine we wouldn't need e.g. a wireless network in the Sheldonian if it was just for opening and closing ceremonies.

ok cool, that's reasonably close. I think cost is a big concern here, and is gonna be a concern with the judges unless we can somehow get some big sponsers or grants, which is gonna be difficult to get without charity status, so that needs to be WikimediaUK's biggest priority. We might wanna see if we can get grant money from the lottery, and get in touch with ministers like Minister for Trade etc. Contacting council's around the of london to see if they can provide facilities is also another idea i had.

Five minutes. Down the main road, hang left, up a side street.
It is, however, not at all comfortable - the photographs don't really convey how awkward it is to try to have anything in there...
