Microgrants
Information about microgrants that are currently running, and how to submit a microgrant application of your own, are at Microgrants/Applicationshttp://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Microgrants/Applications .
- Microgrants/KFC http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Microgrants/KFC was approved. This microgrant covers the purchase of books to enable User:Farrtj http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Farrtj, an independent editor who has no affiliations with KFC, to improve the Kentucky Fried Chicken article on the English-language Wikipediahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:KFC. Farrtj hopes to work the article up to Featured Article quality, and may improve related articles along the way. - Microgrants/Core Contest (prizes)http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Microgrants/Core_Contest_(prizes) was approved. The Core Contesthttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:Wikipedia:The_Core_Contest, which is currently run by Casliberhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:User:Casliber, encourages community members to improve the most important articles on the English-language Wikipedia. This will be the third WMUK-sponsored Core Contest, and we are providing £250 worth of Amazon vouchers as the prizes for the contest. - Microgrants/Wrecks on Doom Barhttp://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Microgrants/Wrecks_on_Doom_Bar has a status update. The key aims of the grant are to get the English Doom Bar article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:Doom_Bar promoted to Featured Article status and to create a list of wrecks at Doom Bar, perhaps working it up to Featured List status. After using WMUK-purchased resources to enhance the article, the Doom Bar article was nominated at Featured Article Candidates on 5 March.

Administrative activities FinancesBoard activities
The Board http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Board held a meeting by telephone on Tuesday 26 March 2013 http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Agenda_26Mar13. This meeting principally dealt with governance changes that were recommended by the Governance Reviewhttp://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Governance_Review, including approving the charters of the Governance Committeehttp://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Governance_Committee and the Audit & Risk Committeehttp://uk.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Audit_%26_Risk_Committee&action=edit&redlink=1. It also covered an update on QRpediahttp://uk.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=QRpedia&action=edit&redlink=1, a modification to the Finance Policyhttp://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Finance_Policy, and the proposed Scheme of Delegationhttp://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Scheme_of_Delegation .
Prior to the meeting, the Board passed a resolution approving the motions that it would be proposing to the membership at the Extraordinary General Meeting to be held in April 2013 http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/EGM_2013. It also approved new membership applications. Both of these decisions took place on the office wiki, and were confirmed at the board meeting.
The draft minutes of the meetinghttp://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Minutes_26Mar13 have been made available on-wiki, and are scheduled to be approved at the Board meeting on 11 May 2013 http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Agenda_11May13. Communications
Please see the above links to relevant press coverage received in March. There was a mixture of communications activity in March. We hosted an event for journalists in central London which was attended by Jimmy Wales. Jimmy's show of support was very welcome and you can see the video of his talk herehttp://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Jimmy_Wales_speaks_about_Wikimedia_UK_on_5_March_2013.webm. Work began on actually drafting the 2012-13 annual review after community consultation didn't lead to a great deal of participation. A couple more short briefing papers were prepared for Trustees and staff related to potential hot topics. If you're interested in getting more involved with our communications or have any questions or comments, please email Stevie Benton – stevie.benton@wikimedia.org.uk
