Board activities

The Board held a meeting by telephone on Tuesday 26 March 2013. This meeting principally dealt with governance changes that were recommended by the Governance Review, including approving the charters of the Governance Committee and the Audit & Risk Committee. It also covered an update on QRpedia, a modification to the Finance Policy, and the proposed Scheme of Delegation.

Prior to the meeting, the Board passed a resolution approving the motions that it would be proposing to the membership at the Extraordinary General Meeting to be held in April 2013. It also approved new membership applications. Both of these decisions took place on the office wiki, and were confirmed at the board meeting.

The draft minutes of the meeting have been made available on-wiki, and are scheduled to be approved at the Board meeting on 11 May 2013.

Communications

Please see the above links to relevant press coverage received in March. There was a mixture of communications activity in March. We hosted an event for journalists in central London which was attended by Jimmy Wales. Jimmy's show of support was very welcome and you can see the video of his talk here. Work began on actually drafting the 2012-13 annual review after community consultation didn't lead to a great deal of participation. A couple more short briefing papers were prepared for Trustees and staff related to potential hot topics. If you're interested in getting more involved with our communications or have any questions or comments, please email Stevie Benton – stevie.benton@wikimedia.org.uk
