Whilst I appreciate that most people will have other priorities, if anyone could spare the time to edit the page with more up to date information that would be much appreciated, as obviously it would be a COI for any of the staff or board to do it. ORGCon2017 - Digital Rights Conference, London Nov 4th

Open Rights Group present the UK's largest digital rights conference, ORGCon 2017, taking place at Friends House Euston on Nov 4, 2017. ORGCon 2017 will bring together academics, writers, lawyers, activists and others to discuss the digital rights issues of the day including killer robots, surveillance trends, fake news, age verification, privacy, online abuse and extremism. Digital rights are human rights that affect us all. We'll look at how the online rights of people of colour, women, and other marginalised groups are being disproportionately affected by regressive laws and online abuse. But we'll also be talking about how the Internet has changed politics and campaigning for the good, and how we can harness this to give ordinary citizens a voice, and help to hold the powerful to account. Dear all I'm currently working on Wikimedia UK's application for funding from the Wikimedia Foundation next year - with lots of input from the staff and board of course - and I'd welcome your feedback on the chapter's programme plans for next year. Movement strategy

Dear all As many of you will be aware, this year has seen a lot of work across the global Wikimedia movement to develop a new strategy to 2030. A draft strategic direction was shared in August and discussed extensively by participants at Wikimania, and a newly articulated direction was published recently. As a member of the Wikimedia community the Foundation and the strategy team are keen to get your feedback so please do take a look at the strategy in its current form: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Strategy/Wikimedia_movement/2017/Direction The Wikimedia UK board discussed the draft at a recent meeting and I have added comments to the talk page suggesting that education should be added to the statement of direction. My understanding is that a final version of the strategic direction will be created and shared around the end of this month, and then the Foundation is hoping that as many individuals and groups as possible will endorse the strategy during October.
