5 museums in Lancashire closed recently.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-37512136
Museums close fairly regularly (although not normally in that number)
. Is it possible WMUK could keep track of this and give us a heads up
as a sort of "last chance to see"?

Hi All,
Just a quick message to say, I've sorted out the SSL certificates problem
we've been seeing with FireFox (which was to do with certificate ordering
on the server, wierd behaviour).
I've also hardened the server significantly, it's now rated A on SSLlabs :)
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=wikimedia.org.uk&s=2a00%3a1a…
Thanks for everyone that chipped in to this.
Cheers,
Tom
The next Cambridge meetup will be in a new venue, the Ibis Hotel just by the
station:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meetup/Cambridge/32
Not just new for us, after eight years of meeting in CB2: so new that the Google
street view is just hoardings and cranes. Be assured that the building is
finished!
We want to see everyone there, but especially we want to mark four years of
Wikidata, shortly after the actual day. Some early fireworks: see WikiFactMine
on
https://blog.wikimedia.org/2016/10/07/new-project-grants/
and
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/WikiFactMine
for the content mining grant application, now funded by the WMF.
The meetup page should be updated with further developments.
Charles
Dear all
Over the next year, the Wikimedia Foundation is going to be leading the
development of a new long term strategy for the global Wikimedia movement.
The wiki page on this is here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Strategy/2016-2017
This is a key piece of work that Katherine Maher, the relatively new
Executive Director for the Foundation, has been tasked with - and on a
recent call with a number of other Chapters Katherine shared her
presentation on the process for developing the strategy:
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1B3BEolaGseBC4-
JT1ANiygGhvyyfkH5ax6b8VjOnjCg/edit?usp=sharing
The sharing settings on this document mean that anyone with the link can
edit, but please can you send any comments or questions to me rather than
making changes to the presentation. We have another call with Katherine
next Thursday so if you would like to feed in to the development of the
*process* for the movement strategy, it would be great if you could get
back to me before then so that I can collate and present feedback from the
UK community (although I'm sure there will be other opportunities as well).
There will of course be opportunities for feeding into the *content* of the
strategy at a later date.
Thanks and best wishes
Lucy

Hi Ewan,
This looks very interesting! We will definitely promote it here in
Ireland. Is there any way to participate virtually/remotely?
