Dear All,
The date of the 2013 WikiConference is now pinned down as *Saturday 8 June*.
However, the rest of the event is very open at the moment, and your input
would be great - particularly your wish list of possible external speakers
to make the event more varied, and a non-London location suggestions. The
event stub can be found here:

Please feel free to comment on the discussion page, or respond to this
email.
The 2012 WikiConference<http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiConference_UK_2012>was
based in London. It did not have a keynote speech, but was filled with
many interesting talks from the community.
Many thanks!

Hello everyone,
It's time to put together the Wikimedia UK monthly report for July. If you
were involved in any WMUK activities it would be great if you could share
them with the community via the report. The report as it stands is
here<http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Reports/2012/July>.
If you could add your content by the end of the week that would be very
helpful.
Thanks and regards,
Stevie

Hello everyone,
Just a quick note to let you know that our latest blog post is online. It
tells how Gibraltar's biggest website is making its content available
CC-BY-SA in support of the Gibraltarpedia project.
You can read the full story here <http://bit.ly/NxuIrL>.

Dear All,
Wikimedia UK is located in a building that we are sharing with ca. 20 other
charities. In May we delivered a short presentation to them talking about
Wikimedia UK and Wikipedia, and there was a lot of interest in learning to
edit. This would be particularly interesting as the charities in the
building all tackle very different issues, so their interests will be quite
varied.
I am setting up a drop-in style editing event in our office on Thursday 27
September, 11am - 4pm, and it would be great if you could attend to give
1-1 introduction sessions to anyone that will be interested in learning.

We would be able to reimburse reasonable travel and lunch costs.

Hi folks,
As some of you may know, we're holding a photo contest in Coventry on 1 September. The aim is to capture good-quality, freely licensed photographs of every significant building or place in the city, and thus show a side to Coventry other than the concrete jungle most people envisage.
The event is free and all are welcome (Wikimedians and non-Wikimedians alike), so by all means bring friends and family. For more information, please see http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Takes_Coventry.
Any questions, feel free to email me (on- or off-list) or get in touch via the details below.
I hope to see many of you there,

Hello everyone,
I hope you're enjoying the sunshine.
I wanted to give you all a quick update on the proposed work with Demos and
Digital Disruption. We're having a small workshop on 10 September, along
with some interested potential partners who've been speaking with Digital
Disruption.
You can see more details, and discuss this, on the UK wiki at
http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/WMUK,_Digital_Disruption_and_Demos_event,_10_S…
Just to be clear, WMUK hasn't committed to any work or contributed any
funds at this point.
If you have any comments you'd like to share off-wiki please do email me.
Thank you,
Stevie

Is anyone on the list qualified to do PAT testing? We have a few items that
need testing in time for our conferences (all relatively new, all things
like laptops, projectors etc).
Please get in touch with me off-list if you can help :-)

I'm running another "coffee morning", i.e. informal discussion session
about training issues. This one will precede the London meetup on
Sunday 12 August, and will be in the same place, Penderel's Oak pub in
Holborn (http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/penderels-oak/).
I'll get a train that will allow me to be there by 11 am. All are
welcome, to discuss current and future training.
I'll hang around during the meetup. But it does tend to get noisier,
which is why it seems worth setting aside a couple of hours before the
meetup itself starts.
