Hello everyone,
Yesterday, at a board meeting, I informed my fellow board members that
I intended to withdraw my candidacy from the upcoming election. I have
just emailed the tellers to do that.
I have enjoyed my time on the board and I am extremely proud of all
the chapter has achieved in that time. However, I started a new job a
few months ago and really don't have the time to dedicate to the role
of board member. I put my name forward because I was concerned there
might not be enough good candidates, however that is thankfully not
the case. I think the chapter would be better off with a board member
that can devote more time to the role than I could, so I am stepping
aside.
I intend to continue as an active member of the chapter and to help
out when I can. I certainly won't be disappearing any time soon! Not
being a board member will mean I can just work on whatever I feel like
that any given time without being burdened by obligations I can barely
meet and which leave little time for anything else (hopefully my
successor won't have such a difficult time due to some of those
obligations being taken over by staff in the near future).
I would like to thank the current and former board members I have
served with as well as everyone that has attended our events, taken
part in discussions here and otherwise been involved with the chapter.
You have all contributed to the success of the chapter to date and to
my enjoyment over the last year and a bit on the board. Thank you all!
I wish whoever is elected next weekend the best of luck and, if there
is anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask!
Kind regards,
