If you want to suggest questions, stick them on the talk. It may be a good
idea to listen to the previous interview which is a couple of clicks away
from the related news section.

They just responded, rejecting my request under s17(4):
In accordance with the Act, this letter represents a Refusal Notice for
this particular request under Section 17(4).
Section 17(4) of the Act provides:
(4) A public authority is not obliged to make a statement under subsection
(1)(c) or (3) if, or to the extent that, the statement would involve the
disclosure of information which would itself be exempt information.
The Metropolitan Police Service can neither confirm nor deny that it holds
the information you requested as the duty in Section 1(1)(a) of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 does not apply, by virtue of the following
exemption:
S30(3) Investigations
The MPS will not disclose whether it has carried out an investigation, or
whether an investigation is taking place, unless that information has
already been placed in the public domain, through channels such as the
media or the court process. Nor will we confirm whether or not
correspondence has been received by a force from a third party.
Any disclosure under Freedom of Information is a release of information to
the world in general and not an individual applicant. Therefore, simply
confirming or not that such information were held would reveal which force
has and hasn't had contact with the IWF.
I don't suppose anyone has any evidence that the IWF definitely contacted a
specific police force, do they? :o)

Hi all,
I spoke to the Charities Unit at the UK Tax Authorities today for an update on our application for Gift Aid. We wrote to them on 23rd November applying for Gift Aid status and they previously said they had a backlog of 6-8 weeks' post to work through so we should expect an answer in approximately mid January.
Unfortunately they are now working on mid-October post, meaning the backlog has risen to 10 weeks and we can now expect an answer around 10th February.
On a positive note they have confirmed that we can ask people to sign the Gift Aid declaration now, notwithstanding that we haven't received a response, and we will be able to reclaim tax on these donations as soon as we are approved without having to approach the donors again.
I'll keep everyone informed.

Subject: Gift Aid - an update
Hi all,
Just to keep you up to date regarding Gift Aid. I spoke to the HMRC Charities Unit today and asked them when we should expect a response. They said they are currently taking between 6-8 weeks so we should expect to hear around mid January.
As we are not registered with the Charity Commission their initial response may ask for more information to support out status as a charity; however, I'll keep everyone informed when we hear.
Regards,

Hi all,
Happy New Year to everyone!
We're starting to look at the practicalities of the AGM and I though
it'd be useful to get an idea of how many people might attend in
person so we can book a suitable room.
Bearing in mind:
- all members will be able to vote - both for resolutions and for the
new board members - electronically without needing to attend
- we hope to have some kind of ability to allow people to contribute
to discussion remotely - but the details haven't been worked out yet
- the location is likely to be soemwhere central in either Birmingham
or Manchester (the decision on the city will be made 13th Jan)
- the date hasn't been fixed but is likely to be a weekend day at the
end of Feb or early March.
The main advantages of the day are:
- you get to see and hear the candidates for the Board and other
people involved in the chapter
- you can discuss and debate the priorities of the chapter with other
people
- you can hear talks from one of the exciting speakers we have booked
to come (details to follow)
Can you let me know if you personally would be interested in attending
in person and how many people you might expect to show up?
Thanks
