Now that we've got this new blog, it would be useful if we could get the various media integrated so that the message is getting through all the different channels.
I've been looking at ways to get blog posts automatically fed into the email list. I've come across Yahoo Alerts, which runs off the RSS feed and seems to work, but it doesn't give you any images and mixes in the image captions to the text. Of course there is a link to the story if anyone wants to follow up.
My question: would people like, in principle to receive an alert like this to this email group whenever a blog story is published?
If so, is a Yahoo Alert like below good enough?
Does anyone know of any other system that is better?
Andrew

Yes.

Maybe.

I hope so.

I use an extension, Subscribe2, on my WordPress blogs:
http://subscribe2.wordpress.com/
I'd suggest this or a similar plugin to be installed on the blog. Works really nicely. Anyone can subscribe for email updates too.
(Is the blog site hosted by Wikimedia? If so, file a bug and ask the devs and stuff.)

subscribe2 is now installed. Please let me know if there's any problems with it.
The blog's hosted by WMUK, not WMF. I've done all the setup, which means that it's nice and easy to make modifications such as this (and also undo them if necessary).

For posting to social networks (like twitter, which you guys have now), Ping.fm http://ping.fm/ is very useful. It posts the same message to a ton of networks. :-)

You could try feedburner out, maybe. http://feedburner.google.com/
