A big welcome to D'Arcy who has started as an Interim CEO at WMUK. I am finishing up jobs that make more sense for me up until the New Year while D'Arcy is quickly getting his feet under the table. He is an experiecned CEO with specialist experience in being an interim CEO. To quote his Linkedin biography:
I was educated at Douai Abbey ( a community of monks of the English Benedictine Congregation ), the Berkshire College of Agriculture and Cranfield University. I spent about eight years working in marketing and business development. In 1993 I went out to the independent Kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific with VSO. This experience led me to work in 32 countries around the world from Africa, the Far East, Europe, the former Soviet Union, and the USA. I am passionate about professionalism within the voluntary sector and believe that the leadership within the sector is key to this change. I am active within the sector and amongst other things I am the founder of the Corporate Social Partnership and a trustee for the Small Charities Coalition. I am a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, a member of various third sector institutes, the IoD, and a school governor. I am sure he will be keen to met members of the community. You can email him on darcy.myers@wikimedia.org.uk

Hmm. Marketing. You don't think. Actually it was pretty inevitable.
The article [[D'Arcy Myers]] has been created twice. First was 17 April 2008.
Typical PR rubbish reads like a press release for Wessex Heartbeat which it probably was. Account name "Dcfmyers". Could be a keen underling but its recreated 2 years later 1 May 2010 this time its pretty much a identical to his linkedin profile. [[user:Dcfmyers]] has no other edits.
Unfortunate.

In fairness copyright is a pretty blameless error for new editors
It would be nice to hear from the board how this was discussed before offering the interim position. After all, in the several interviews I took part in for WMUK staff, pretty much the first basic question was along the lines of 'have you ever edited Wikipedia?' as a way of assessing what the candidate knows about Wikimedia; so I can not believe this would come as a surprise considering how sensitive the board is on COI and its perception by our community.

Hi all,
Just to let you know that the moderators have been busy the past few days, so Fae's email took a while to be moderated. I'm not sure what everyone else has been doing but I for one have had a busy week - and a busier weekend - and I try not to involve myself in accepting or declining any of Fae's emails (given past history).
However, a delay of four days for an email to be moderated is clearly a bit long, so I'll start a chat with the other moderators to see if we need to look for someone else to help support the team. Rest assured no emails were deleted!
All the best,
Chase (User:Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry)

And so is CoI/ autobiography - many good editors, including some on this list (not least me) started out with such edits.

Indeed. I started out as a vandal, for example.
If we only hired people that knew details about Wikipedia (like our COI policies) right from the first day they made an edit, we'd be reducing our candidate pool down to zero.
Rather than dwelling on the past, I'd prefer to look to the present. If I were hiring an interim CEO, I'd look for a minimum working knowledge of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia movement. I'm sure the Board of Trustees did this.
So, I'll be assuming good faith until I have any evidence to suggest I should not.
Welcome, D'Arcy! :-)

And I made an entry for my garage band ^__^
Random but relevant questions:
How much is D'Arcy getting paid as interim CEO? And how much is Jon getting paid as outgoing CEO?
Is D'Arcy also a candidate for the next CEO?
