All,
I feel obliged to inform you - as if you didn't already know - that weather conditions in the UK are deteriorating rapidly. If you are in North Wales or North West England, there is a red warning for strong winds from the met office, in this case winds of 70-80 mph - there may well be debris coming through the air!
Be careful if you're out doing activities, and check http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/ for the latest advice.

At first I thought "well, that's February for you". Then Cadw announced that Beaumaris and Montgomery castles have been closed.
Repent, the end is nigh.

That's because Castles are an outdated concept. Demolish them all and build bowling alleys.

As long as we're clear on the reasons for demolishing them

Or on a more Winter Olympics themed note, and as castles are usually atop hills, why not build indoor skiing/snowboarding centres, complete with "real" snow (basically giant freezers at -5C, with water sprayed upwards every night from snow cannons to create the snow).
There are six in the UK: http://www.skiclub.co.uk/skiclub/infoandadvice/uksnowsports/ukslopesmap.aspx
I like the idea of the Lake District Ski Club (real snow, wind etc permitting), where you have to walk for an hour just to reach the lift: http://www.ldscsnowski.co.uk/
best wishes Edward Hands
