Hi Folks,
I hope everyones having a great week. Plans for Wikimania are coming along well and we'll be running a few events before the end of the year to get additional community feedback.
I finally had a chance to meet with Kat Bavage at the office in Old Street today to talk about approaching partners for Wikimania 2014, whether as sponsors of the event, giving us in-kind support (such as a venue or equipment) or helping us market the event to its potential audience and get the message out to the media.
We are drawing up a list of organisations we think we should be approaching (in existing some pre-existing partners), broadly under the themes of 'Education', 'Cultural', 'Open Source', 'Financial', 'Tech', 'Public institutions', 'Media' and 'Outreach' (by which we mean professional associations/networks for groups the movement is keen to engage with such as women, older people and ethnic minority groups)
If you have ideas for organisations you think we might not have thought of but should approach then it would be great if you could refer them to us. Any institution/organisation with which you have a personal connection and would be prepared to make an introduction would be helpful - in which case please email the details to sponsors@wikimanialondon.org.
So do feel free spam us with links - either by dropping a message on Kat's talk page on the UK wiki or reply here - whichever is easiest.
Have a great weekend.
Kind Regards,
James
