I'm inclined to agree with Mike, in this instance it looks like it'll just be an advertising pitch for their cloud solutions, no indication of networking or promotion opportunity from the blurb. Of course it's your choice to go(!) and it is free, but if you're going as a Wikimedian I can't imagine it being terribly a) interesting to us, and b) providing opportunity to promote, so possibly not worth it, e.g:

Fair point, Simon. That said, since I live in Manchester, it won't cost me anything to attend except time, and since they're likely to have free wifi I can always just sit on my laptop and do my work there. ;-)
You never know with this kind of thing. There's a drinks reception afterwards, and my "Wikimedia Foundation" name badge might serve as a decent enough icebreaker.

I'd encourage Dan to go if he's happy to do so. There are times when you unexpectedly spot a potential synergy or connection that hadn't occurred to you before, and it's almost impossible (in my experience) to predict when this is going to happen. It probably won't, of course, but you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a prince, and at least there's a free lunch and drinks on offer.

I'm with Rexx here. Sometimes the unexpected happens. I went along to a session launching MozFest last year with some folks I'd been discussing a project proposal with, even though it didn't seem entirely related to my work. A year on, I;ve made some excellent connections at organisations operating in similar fields to Wikimedia, know a bit about badges, open data and other cool things - as well as made some really useful connections at Mozilla. If I hadn't gone along I may still have learned those things and met those people - but meeting them there made things a lot easier. You never know who has ambled in because it was raining or they got lost.
