Dear Wikimedian, On November 5th, it will be Wikimedia UK's 4th birthday. We would like to hold a small celebration, to thank our volunteers and members for helping us get this far and ahcieve so much in the space of four years.
We have a small favour to ask regarding the celebrations: as the birthday falls a week before the November London Meetup, we were wondering if the UK Wikimedian community will mind if we were to hold a celebration event during or after the London meet up. We're keen to ensure that it remains a community meetup, rather than a chapter one, which is why we're asking your permission. ** We would also like to know if the community would rather it be held in the Penderel's Oak (or a similar pub-like setting), or with a small party somewhere else e.g the Google Campus (http://www.campuslondon.com/workspace/ ).
We'd really welcome your opinions, as we want to make this birthday celebration about thanking you - member, supporter, or Wikipedian - for all your support. Hasina.

As long as you bring cake, I think we can safely say the London meetup regulars aren't going to complain about the chapter gatecrashing the meetup!
There is talk of moving away from Penderal's Oak, though, since we moved this month (due to the kitchen being closed) and discovered that the wifi at the Shakespeare's Head actually works! This has been a bit of discussion here:

No conclusion was reached, though, so I think October's meetup will be back at the Oak by default. We might have concluded to move to the Head by November, though.

Shakespeare's Head is busier than the Penderel's Oak, being right near Holborn tube. Its layout is also not entirely convenient. But if you have a good idea of numbers, it can work well. I've been at meets for other things up to about 12-13 people around one of the big round tables and the main inconvenience is sending someone to get the drinks.

There is an assumption here that drinks are bought in rounds. I think the culture of the London meetup is different.
Personally, I would never "send" anybody to buy drinks!

Precisely - you have to, because you can't get out from the far side of the round tables!
