Well, of course. So much so, that one set of people I know who ran science fiction conventions took to telling journalists who turned up at the door expecting free entry that "you can pay just like anyone else". Then, when the usual cliched rubbish about us "beaming down" etc. was published, my friends could say "and we've got their money".
