Hello everyone,
The DCMS is conducting a consultation on e-learning in libraries. The consultation period closes on Tuesday 6 November at 5pm.
It would be great if we could work together to come up with a response to the consultation.
I've created a page on the UK wiki which gives some more details and lists the themes that the consultation is interested in. Please do get involved at http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/DCMS_consultation_on_e-lending_in_libraries
If contributions could be made and a final response reached by 3.30pm on Tuesday 6 November that allows us time to make a final submission.
Thank you for your help.
Stevie
I've put a few queries on the talk page...
I think the current response slightly misses the mark in terms of what the DCMS are looking at, and how it would/would not benefit Wikipedia.
Also, recommending our model of content creation should be done with extreme caution.

Thanks Tom, I think they are sensible comments.
Obviously, it wouldn't be in our interests to make a submission that was divisive within our community base. Perhaps an alternative would be to look closely at the themes we can achieve consensus on and then make it clear that our response is only related to those themes.
I'm interested to see how the submission and the discussion takes shape.
Thanks,
Stevie

Hello everyone,
I've spoken to DCMS and they have granted us an extension for this consultation response. We have until the end of today so any last minute thoughts welcome.
You can see the draft response at http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/DCMS_consultation_on_e-lending_in_libraries
Thanks,
Stevie
