I did actually suggest this at the meeting but it was dismissed without
a really adequate explanation of *why*.
Ah! I thought it was you who said that we *shouldn't* use this because
of the widespread confusion between "wiki" and "Wikip(m)edia"
:-)
But I'm all for this - or even "Wikimedia UK" itself (isn't there
something we can do about the logistical side of things?) And let's
face it, we're not going to allow ourselves to be "taken over" by a
bunch of loons - they've been hitting Wikipedia for years now, to no
avail. And even if it did happen, we'd just [[Play Calvinball|sort
something else out]]

We cannot start with "Wikimedia" in the name, but once we
incorprated, we can apply to the Wikimedia Foundation for the legal
rights to use the name, and hence we can trade as "Wikimedia UK".
"Trading as" is common; take the example I gave in another email.
THE THIRD AGE TRUST Working Name THE UNIVERSITY OF THE THIRD AGE
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U3A
In fact, they also use the brand name "U3A" as a shortened name for
"The University of the Third Age". But their legal (registered) name
is "The Third Age Trust". We assume that their cheques might say
something like:
"The Third Age Trust t/a The University of the Third Age"
BTW, we do not want to be a trust.. trust me on that one.
:-)
