Hello everyone,
As you may know, the European Commission is currently conducting a
consultation on copyright. They have posted a series of questions and are
seeking answers from groups that have an interest, such as Wikimedia
chapters.
European Wikimedia chapters recently signed a statement of
intent<https://wikimedia.org.uk/wiki/Free_Knowledge_Advocacy_Group_EU_statement_of_intent>
to
work collectively in tis area under an umbrella known as the Free Knowledge
Advocacy Group EU. This is a really good opportunity for Wikimedians to
have a say on this important area.
A page has been started on Meta where Wikimedians can take a look at the
EC's questions and respond collaboratively. The page can be seen at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/European_Commission_copyright_consultation and
there is a tentative deadline of 27 January for the discussion to finish.
Please do get involved!
Thanks and regards,
Stevie
