Iv been pestering cary bass for the last 3 months as well as having emailed the wikimania mailing list and either couldn't give me any more info or had no response respectively. I think it is in our best interests to assume for the time being that they are the same as last years. There is a lot that is going to be needed to be done no matter what.

I think the Event is likely, in part, to be awarded on the basis of the initiative shown by the bid-team. Not so much waiting for leadership as chasing up the information and getting as much done as possible.
Chasing up sounds like a good idea - we should email someone at the WMF about budgetary issues.

Do we have budgets for previous years? I've seen proposed budgets in the bids, but there is no reason to expect they had any more information when writing those than we do now. And it won't be the same as previous years if the WMF does arrange some of the sponsorship.
