This email is to invite you take part in the event where you can learn how to edit, meet supportive colleagues, have refreshments and help address Wikipedia’s systemic bias by publishing a new article of your choice about a suffragette, a notable women in medicine or any of the incredible women missing from Wikipedia e.g. Bessie Watson, the Scottish child suffragette and piperhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_(Bessie)_Watson. More suggestions for pages to edit are very welcome.
Bring a friend, bring two! We have a very large room, food and drink and lots of pages to create. No editing experience necessary, full training will be provided and it’s super easy (& fun) to do.
Only 17.39% of biographies on Wikipedia are about notable women so there are a great many notable women missing (both historic and contemporary) from Wikipedia and from Google’s top search results.
I hope you can find time to attend as we could greatly use your support.
Best wishes,
Ewan

Same here, Roger. Edinburgh is a long way to go.
What we need is some events being promoted in our own region, as the Midlands seem to be falling behind these days. I would have thought that all we need is a venue and a bunch of folks interested and we could do our own Women in Red event.
There must be dozens of local Women's History groups and similar within striking distance of us, and there ought to be institutions willing to host an event. Do you have any contacts?
Cheers
There is an event coming up in Derby soon. I've been updating the events list, so please check it, and if you are organising events, please tell me so I can add them to the list.

address
Wikipedia’s systemic bias by publishing a new article of your choice
about
a suffragette, a notable women in medicine or *any* of the incredible women missing from Wikipedia e.g. Bessie Watson, the Scottish child suffragette and piper https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_(Bessie)_Watson. More suggestions for pages to edit are very welcome.
*Bring a friend, bring two! We have a very large room, food and drink
and
lots of pages to create. No editing experience necessary, full
training
will be provided and it’s super easy (& fun) to do.*
Only 17.39% of biographies on Wikipedia are about notable women so
there
are a great many notable women missing (both historic and
contemporary)
from Wikipedia and from Google’s top search results.
I hope you can find time to attend as we could greatly use your
support.
Best wishes,
Ewan
