Thought you might be interested to know that we have so far raised £1,014,176 in the Wikimedia fundraiser, and accordingly we took the fundraising banners down last night. :-)

Great news, congratulations on getting a million so far plus of course the cheques still in the post. Shame about the GiftAid thing, I was expecting a much higher take up. Mind you if we repeat this next year and get 60% takeup that would be >£150k and at least £60k more than this year.

It's probably worth contacting people that didn't fill out a declaration (by email or snail mail) and asking them if they would like to do so now. It wouldn't be too difficult to send such an email, and it might a few extra percentage points on the takeup.
Not a bad idea. Um, I knew I'd forgotten something. Just set up a standing order and filled out the GiftAid form online. Doug

The thankyou emails we're sending do indeed contain a link to a Gift Aid form for anyone who's forgotten it.
With one test we actually got 80% takeup of Gift Aid, but that form layout sadly reduced donations, so we stuck with the version that was getting us 60% takeup.
Gift Aid is probably the main thing we could have done better, but given that we only became eligible for it 1 week before the start of the fundraiser and didn't have any technical resource to do things like build payment forms, the circumstances weren't great either.
@Doug - thank you!

How much does a gift aid form need to contain beyond a check box? Don't you get things like name and address as part of the donation itself?

It needs to be a check-box with the right wording, though, which is why it took a few weeks to sort out.
